A Fresh Single Release from Metasoma

What's the latest single release from Metasoma delivers a powerhouse of anthemic and edgy metal that comes through with inventive riffs, massive sonic drive, and a heavy hand that all come together and bring out an atmosphere that hits hard and leaves a mark.

"Downfall" is built with these layers of guitar work that give the song a certain kind of vastness. It's got its main riffs, which are really heavy and sharp, edgy and closed-fisted, but it also has an overlaying guitar track at times that has a certain delay effect on it, and that is part of why it has such a spacious and expansive undertone a lot of the time.

I love this aspect because it adds depth to the track itself musically.

So, the guitar work is absolutely outstanding throughout the entire thing, and believe me when I tell you, there are a few surprises around the corners of this track, including a classic hardcore style breakdown towards the very end before the final chorus.

The drumming is absolutely outstanding as well. Not only do they add that drive that helps the song push the envelope, but they also deliver an energy that the rest of the band seems to feed off of.

A lot about this song feels almost like everyone was feeding off of each other's energy the entire time, and this is important because when you watch the accompanying music video, you can see that there is a group of friends that got together to do this.

You can also tell there's a lot of heart involved, and this is a group of people who have a true love for their craft. When I say that, I don't mean just playing instruments or singing, I mean writing songs together.

This is a track that's got a massively anthemic approach, especially during those choruses.

This track is a little outside the box, and this is something I actually adore about it as well. It isn't really confined to a certain genre specifically. It is a heavy track that blends alternative, hardcore, metal, progressive, and all kinds of other heavy rock elements together to create something that's all its own.

I definitely dig how they brought that slew of influences together to create this song.

The vocals on this track are very impactful because right off the bat you can tell he's belting out and giving it his all.

As I mentioned earlier, each player, instrument, and element of the song seems to push the rest.

The vocals come in with this matched energy to the rest of the band, which is not easy to do simply because the band has such high octane and electric energy to begin with.

This was definitely a track that breeds a certain level of understanding of arrangement and composition because the song is built and put together super well and there are parts of this song that hit like a sucker punch to the god.

It's heavy but it's also incredibly melodic and there's heart involved so it manages to bring together so many important attributes that let the song feel alive and breathing, have heart, have soul, but also still have a fast, melodic, heavy edginess that reaches into the depths of a multitude of heavy rock genres.

This was a brilliant song, and it really stuck with me for hours after I listened to it.

Have to checking this track out I took a deep dive into the band's back catalog on Spotify and found quite a few amazing releases including a previous track released in 2023 called "Soulless" which was a brutal one and ventured more towards straight metal and thrash approach but still with some of the Staples at this song kept.

They have a lot of amazing releases that you should really check out, and it was really fun for me to check out the evolution of the band's sound from when their first release was dropped in 2011 all the way to now.

These guys definitely have been on a musical journey and the new single defines their sound very well for right now. I love how these guys have evolved with their soundscape, songwriting approaches, and energy.

Check this new single out and then go back through their stuff and turn it up.

Remember where you heard it first.
