Anya Audette returns with an amazing cover of a track that we all know well, only her version takes things to a different place with lush, cinematic strings bringing a disco undertone, a danceable and wondrous blend of color and edginess, and absolutely robust vocals that grab hold of you.
"Get This Party Started" is a track that's been covered a few times, to say the least, but Anya's version showcases such thick personality and character that you can't escape the vivacious and almost fiery approach she delivers.
The track has amazing bills and again, is laced with these beautiful string sections that are reminiscent of classic '70s style Disco strings, but they're also very orchestral in a cinematic sense, so those two elements blend in naturally to the song.
I found this to be such a full-bodied track with layers of beautiful texture going on, and her vocals just come through like a powerhouse.
Although it's been covered fairly often, Anya based hers off of Shirley Bassey's version, and as we found out later on, the artist is a huge influence for Anya as a whole.
As the song unfolds, you get those strings, but you also have that edgy undertone. They come from bass guitar and guitar tones that add this slightly heavier vibe, bring the funk, and dig that Groove even deeper than it originally started.
All of these elements come together to create an atmosphere that lets the song feel like it's all its own. Although you've heard the song covered in different ways before, this one feels alive and breathing.
I feel like it's the energy level that helps deliver that impactful style. Anya has a naturally impressive energy, and this track showcases that beautifully.
Her vocals are also very big and add this gorgeous and almost sonically driving element to the track, so that it all comes together like pieces of a puzzle.
The song makes you want to get up and dance, but it also makes you want to sing along almost immediately.
Her performance is completely vivacious, vibrant, charismatic, and really showcases her presence perfectly.
You get that cinematic feel even further when horns start coming into play and just the natural acoustics and textures of the horns, strings come alive percussion, guitars, and those huge vocals, all become enthralling.
This had a beautiful aesthetic and one that certainly packs a punch, which is part of the entire sentiment of the song in reality.
It's supposed to be exciting like this. It's time to get the party started after all.
Anya delivers some pleasant surprises, brilliant attention to detail, Perfect Pitch vocals, and heart, along with that naturally soulful and big voice.
You can tell she not only has a love for the original song, but also a love for the craft of singing and even songwriting.
Listening to this song lets you know that she is a performer at heart and makes you want to go see her perform this song live, right in your face.
If she can capture this kind of aesthetic and energy on record so well, then seeing her live must be amazing.
It's not often that you listen to a record and immediately know you want to see that artist and a live setting, but here, there's no question.
With the release of such a wonderfully woven single, we wanted to chat with Anya to find out what inspired this and what's coming up next for the artist.
Here's what happened.
Buzz Slayers: Let's talk about "Get This Party Started"! This was quite a reimagining of a classic! I love how you brought that disco and soul feel! What made you cover this track?
I love Shirley Bassey’s version of this. It brings an amazing vocals to elegance and fire. Shirley Bassey is one of my all-time favorites and as far as I’m concerned, she is the queen of the James Bond theme so I live for her and that’s why II love Shirley Bassey’s version of this. It brings amazing vocals to elegance and fire. Shirley Bassey is one of my all-time favorites and as far as I’m concerned, she is the queen of the James Bond themes so I live for her and that’s why I recorded it. I didn’t really redo much but add my own flair to it and it just enjoyed. You know what I was doing OK
Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as an artist?
So I spent over 40 years in musical theatre. I am a classically trained soprano. I've had three recitals at Carnegie Hall, and I have transitioned to making classic genres into music for the 21st century. I want the kids to hear old stuff and embrace the newness that I give to make them go back to the original.
Buzz Slayers: Do you find it hard to write songs like this?
This is a Pink cover that was covered by Shirley Bassey, and I like her version so its me.
Buzz Slayers: Do you play live shows at all?
I do. Last Fall I released an album of Burt Bacharach songs, a Christmas album and an EP of EDM all in a span of a year. I am trying to go on tour and sing with my tracks with a symphony orchestra. I actually have a gig at Joanne’s in New York. It’s Lady Gaga's parents' restaurant. They do an emerging artist series and hopefully I can get a booking from that.
Buzz Slayers: Who is in your headphones right now?
Everyone but I am obsessed with Cowboy Carter right now. I like everything honestly. My music is based on the mood for the day.
Buzz Slayers: Now that this single is released, what is next for you?
Building to get momentum. I am releasing a single a month. The next one is July 18 and building up to the Album release February 13th, 2026. I turn 60.
Buzz Slayers: What kind of advice would you have for other bands and artists getting their music out there?
Don't give up on your passion no matter what. Even if it's for you to keep going, someone will listen.
Buzz Slayers: What can you say people might expect from this track?
Intrigue, dance and homage to a legend.
Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to express to fans of the music?
Thank you thank you for allowing me to grow, stay inspired and keep thai old girl young for the ages.
