A fresh EP release from The Ghoules comes through with a sort of vintage arena rock tonality with everything from the guitar tone, riffs, vocal approach, bass tones, and even the way the drums are recorded all give this classic aesthetic that not only hits perfectly but brings bouts of nostalgia that make the record really feel good to listen to.
Now, the House Creeper EP definitely adds a little bit of extra edge and character here and there but all in all, they are giving something that feels like the release is an ode to the bands that influenced them growing up.
Some of the tracks have this great reverb effect on them giving them that more vast rock feel which goes right along with the aesthetic of the record which again gives that big arena rock vibe, and I love the energy throughout this thing.
These songs have an almost live performance feel to them and maybe they were recorded live on the floor to an extent and the players were just feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.
Even if I'm wrong about that, listening to this record definitely makes you want to go see them live because of this kind of classic and electric energy is captured on record this well then seeing them live must be awesome.
I'm hearing a lot of Kiss influence on this record and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that as they were one of the biggest hard rock bands and acts in music history.
But again, they throw their own feel into the record and give it an updated sound but still keep to that classic underbelly and that is I think what makes it so addictive.
This is a record that you should listen to all the way through. It's only three tracks long and about 15 minutes long, and if you're a classic or hard rock fan, it's 100% worth listening to.
The guitar work and vocals are outstanding as they have a weird way of complimenting each other throughout the whole record. There's lots of great guitar work and harmonies strewn throughout the EP and the vocals deliver the exact kind of energy that you would want and expect.
You can tell that everyone involved with this release has a pure love for their craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing their instruments or singing, I mean writing songs together to deliver a powerhouse of an EP.
You want to head bang along with just about everything or sing along to different parts with your fists in the air.
Upon listening to this track, I took a little bit of a deep dive into the band's back catalog on Spotify, and I'm glad that I did because they definitely have a few singles that were released previous to this record and they all carry that same vibe with them, but you can also hear some of their progression as a band from 2020 through now.
If you are a fan of classic heavy and hard rock, metal, and arena rock then this is genuinely for you.
Check this record out and, don't be afraid to turn it nice and Loud because it sounds better the louder you turn it.
Remember where you heard it first.
