Velour Fog Drops a Banger of a Single

A rambunctious new single from Velour Fog brings on some classic elements of early to mid 90s and early 2000s heavy-handed rock, rap, and even funk elements that all come together to breed a track that feels super familiar, especially if you grew up in a certain time, but also colorful, edgy and Incredibly refreshing.

"Fake" wastes very little time grabbing your attention with some incredible guitar work that saturates the entire track with that infectious rhythm and tone.

The song opens up with a ferocious guitar riff and pounding drums that really let you get a grasp on what you might expect in terms of level of intensity and the unstoppable energy that the entire track boasts.

From there, it opens up into creative and inventive guitar work and driving bass guitar lines along with rapping vocals that are robust and animated, so that you have that color bouncing right into your face, and the key factor of this whole thing is the balance of energy throughout every element of the song.

The whole thing has this electric energy that feels almost like it was all recorded live on the floor, and everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire time.

What I love about this is that you listen to the track on record, and you immediately know that this band is going to be intense in a live performance setting. In other words, once you listen to this track, you'll immediately want to go see them play live.

When the song goes through the verses, you get a great little funk-rock feel with guitar tones that change along with shifts in the song's arrangement. Then it explodes back into that main riff again, and the vocals sing harmoniously, which all still has this ferocious attitude and energy to it that is definitely one of the most addictive attributes of the whole song.

This is a track with character and personality, which is something I feel like a lot of songs have been missing in the past years.

So, you have a sort of soiree of heavy rock influences flowing through the veins of this one single track, and it's amazing because as I listen to it I pick up on elements of bands like Limp Bizkit, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Faith No More, and tons of others, to be honest.

This was like a love letter to that entire bubble of heavy rock with rap attributes and was built with fewer boundaries than people were used to at the time.

I feel that we've come right back around to that point in time where we are expecting a certain kind of sound from bands, and Velour Fog is pretty much doing their own thing without a second thought.

Sometimes it takes some classic influences to push new boundaries, and that's exactly what these guys are doing.

There are crazy breakdowns and parts of the song that get super heavy too. I honestly wasn't expecting it to get so hardcore, but it really gets there, and it just shows how they push the envelope to make this song whatever they want it to be.

I don't like to simplify when it comes to genres. Saying something is heavy rock or metal, alternative rock, or rap is usually never enough to explain the style or approach for artists or bands.

With this band, they blend so much into one song that it's impossible to put your finger on exactly what it is. All I can tell you is that it's a heavy, fun, driving, inventive, addictive, high-octane, character-riddled banger of a single, and the whole thing gets under your skin in the best possible way.

Upon listening to this track, I had to take a bit of a deep dive into the band's catalog on Spotify, and there are a few other singles released that show a different side to how they do their thing.

Each track stands on its own two legs really well, but also shows a different approach and influence in the band's style.

After checking this track out, I suggest listening to the other singles because it's well worth your time, and they're all super fun.

Definitely check these guys out as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
