Until Dusk Fades Changes Course and Gives Us An Emotional and Ambient Single

Until Dusk Fades is a project mostly known for crafting a sort of blistering and edgy metal approach that combines thrash and death metal with a melodic undertone, with a bit of a spacious backbone and lyrics that cross between subtlety and a heavy hand.

The project is amazing at crossing boundaries in terms of breaking through into different genres and being experimental with soundscape, texture, and approach.

The latest single from the project really takes a bit of a different direction, but one that showcases how the artist is able to create music that is fitting for what they're feeling at the time.

This project is helmed and birthed by Carli Zakk, who sometimes collaborates, but most of the time performs a lot of the sounds that you're hearing alone.

When the artist has an idea and is able to bring it to fruition in such a passionate and intense sort of way, it's pretty amazing to hear.

One has to wonder where someone even starts, in terms of having an idea for a song and then making it become something real.

As I mentioned earlier, the project is very sort of heavy a lot of the time.

The new single, "Lost Love", is heavy as well, but not in the same manner.

This song is heavy in terms of its emotional push. You can tell this is a track that came from someplace very authentic and that it has to do with heartbreak, loss, and all the full range of emotions that follow suit.

This particular track feels very ambient, vast, and atmospheric, using spacious synth pads to create an aesthetic that sort of swallows you up.

You drift and float along with these sounds and beautiful textures, bringing to light a sort of cinematic feel and different layers of intensity.

The song has incredible depth and feels so distant at times, which is part of its point.

Look at the title of the track itself. Lost love is a sentiment a lot of us have dealt with in our lives, and it's songs like this that let us feel like we're not alone in those kinds of feelings.

I think it's important to have music like this because it sort of intensifies those emotions, puts them into words and music, and then lets that come through in a sort of raw manner.

When I say raw, what I mean is that the emotion doesn't hold back. The passion is there, the intensity is there, the sentiment is there, and sort of graceful sound.

The way the vocals are performed is what gives this song its raw emotion. It really all comes through with a sort of purity that doesn't hold anything back, is super vulnerable, but also unafraid to be expressed.

This is what real music is all about. The freedom to express yourself through your creative outlet. There shouldn't be any walls built around what you're doing, and Carli can pull that together and give such a great example of what true art can hold.

Now, as I mentioned earlier, a lot of the stuff from Until Dusk Fades can really be quite heavy with shredding guitars, sharpness, and a little bit of brutality and aggression.

This track trades all of that for a bit of sadness instead. The aggression is still sort of hinted at, but it's not really there the way it normally is.

This time, the sadness takes over, and that's okay. Those two emotions go hand in hand, and it is super refreshing to hear this project release something that still doesn't hold back, but expresses a completely different emotion.

This is a song you can really sort of swim through, and I suggest you listen to this one with headphones so you can soak in all the textures and the sentiment behind everything.

So, check the song out, but also, if you like experimental metal, still with those vast underbellies and loads of passion, then you should certainly check out the other releases from the project.

It is well worth your time to dig into all this stuff, but start with this track.

This song, to me, is sort of a door opener to the rest of the material released.

So, dive in and don't forget where you heard it first.
