A single release from Samantha deLuca delivers a particular breed of raw honesty that lets the song come through with an intense and passionate emotional backbone. You have a powerfully cinematic soundscape in the form of a power ballad, and it really has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to.
"Trauma Response" is an absolutely gorgeous track, and it has a wonderful way of building and bringing in those waves of intensity in a way that you can understand them and even relate to the sentiment of the track itself.
One of the things I love about this track is how it builds. It starts off slightly more stripped down, so you're paying attention to those robust vocals, which certainly hit with a lot of heart and authenticity, so that the track itself all comes together with the feeling that it comes from someplace real.
As the song unfolds, you start to get more instrumentation and a lush feel, which is beautiful because it does grow emotionally, along with the music.
This song really made sense to me because it speaks volumes in terms of Samantha's artistry and being able to express herself with very few walls built around her.
I love a song that is as vulnerable as this one is because I think that takes guts. I think it is important for an artist to be able to release emotion the way that Samantha does on this track.
The beautiful thing about it is the sheer fact that a lot of us can relate to it. We can totally get exactly where she's coming from, and when you listen to the lyrics, at times, you feel like it's a song that could have served as part of the soundtrack to a certain chapter in your own life.
We very rarely get songs that we can connect with on that level, but Samantha pulls this off without a hitch, and it's so impactful to hear songs like this because it leaves a mark.
Although the song was obviously for her, a way off her chest and to express herself, for the listener, it can help us feel less alone in our struggles.
This song itself is about loneliness to an extent. Or at least, that's how I interpreted it.
It's about the struggle of feeling alone in certain aspects and being okay with it as well. Letting it go in a way.
There's a lot of strong messaging behind this track, and I think she did an outstanding job of letting all that inner thought and emotions spill out for all to soak in.
I feel like this must have been incredibly cathartic for Samantha to write and release, which again, takes guts.
It takes a lot to put yourself out there the way that she did and create a song that's so musically moving and powerful that it affects you.
This is a piano-based song, but it does get a full band with percussion and other beautiful instrumentation that helps build those intensities and also gives that cinematic backbone I mentioned earlier.
Aside from the lush musical approach, the vocals are powerful and passionately performed to the point where you know Samantha is an artist who gives pieces of herself in her music.
It is unafraid, and I feel like we need more music in the world like that.
People like music that is unafraid. This is a song built with fewer boundaries around it than you may be used to, but those are the things that make you think and feel.
Like I said, we need more music like this. Music that lets you think or feel.
Music that comes from someplace genuine and hits hard.
This was a moving single and really showcases Samantha's ability to build this incredible musical atmosphere, perform with heart, and put herself out there in ways that others may not be able to.
She's also amazing with those lyrics. A lot of us have similar struggles or feelings, but we don't really know how to articulate that into words, let alone words and music, so when we hear a song like this, it does indeed let us feel less alone.
That little aspect can help, and this is a song that completely humanizes the artist, which, in turn, humanizes the listener.
This is an absolutely beautiful single that you should listen to with headphones on so you can soak in everything happening.
There are some gorgeous layers throughout this track and it's going to pull at your heartstrings, especially if you're someone who lets it.
Check this track out and see how it affects you.
Remember where you heard it first.
