Reigns Releases A Vivacious New Single

A vibrant new release from Reigns comes through with a very vivacious and colorful soundscape that brings a cinematic funk along with it, taking on heavy-handed elements of neo-soul and bringing out an incredibly refreshing and high-energy performance from the artist through and through.

"Heels Running" is packed to the brim with a blend of instrumentation that is completely full-bodied.

The beat is excitable and works amazingly for the pace of the song, which, combined with the synergy of those instruments, comes through with a sort of intensity that you can't deny.

There's something about this track that feels vintage.

It's that classic soul approach, riddled with horn sections and absolutely boisterous vocals that come right at you.

There are light strings in the background that are sort of floating through the songs either, giving it a little bit more depth, and those show up a bit more evidently during the verse sections. The chorus sections are where the vocals get big and robust, the horns kick in more full throttle, and the entire song has its climactic levels of intensity.

One of my favorite aspects about this entire thing is that not only does it blend genres pretty seamlessly, but it also takes some of that old-school songwriting approach and brings it into a new playing field.

It's combining these things seamlessly, and Reigns definitely feels the flow because her performances are through the roof.

Her energy levels match the energy of the music amazingly. She has a tone to her voice that just reels you right in and keeps you exactly where it wants to.

She's a powerhouse vocalist for sure, but she has heart and sings with passion and soul. I think that's really what hits so hard about this single.

She's also obviously not afraid to give pieces of herself in her music, as the song definitely comes from some real place.

This is a track that feels like it's about being in the wrong relationship. Whatever the reason may be, it's about wanting to get up and pretty much run for your life. You need to get out of that relationship, and you know it.

This is a situation a lot of us are extremely familiar with, unfortunately. It's hard to find that right person, and sometimes when you do, it feels proper and correct, but pretty quickly you realize it's not all what it was propped up to be in your head.

I love how she approaches this song lyrically, because she makes it connective. She makes it relatable.

She's coming from that personal perspective where she's realizing this is not the relationship to be in, and you better look out because she's getting out of there whether you like it or not.

It's got a great attitude to it because it's not submissive or victimized. It's more of an awakening. A realization that you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's time to go.

In that sense, it's very empowering. There's a lot about the song that gives you the Sensation that she is enough for herself. Loving yourself is really important in terms of being in any relationship, but even more important for your own well-being.

This track exemplifies such an authentic view of these kinds of situations and how you should not be afraid to make your move.

Now, this is just how I interpreted the song. Others may take it a little differently, but for me it was pretty obvious.

Parts of this song are just ingenious. There are sections of this track that have such brilliant lyrical phrasing, harmonies, and fast-paced bouncing between the beats, and those elements of the parts really stick in your brain for days after the song has ended.

Even those sections are riddled with soul and attitude.

It's been a while since I've heard a track that boasts this level of character, but it feels great to listen to.

The chorus is so in your face. It's so intense and has a really particular way of wrapping itself around you.

This was an outstanding blend of those R&B, pop, soul, and funk elements. On top of all that, it comes through with this hint of edginess, mostly again, because of the attitude she's portraying.

This is a damn near perfect combination and works amazingly for the song, because, as I mentioned earlier, it's just bursting at the seams with character, and I think that's what you get attached to the most here.

Don't get me wrong, it's an insanely danceable track, but the personality is what makes it work.

If it didn't have the right attitude, it would just come through differently. But she absolutely nailed this.

After listening to the song, I wanted to talk with her to find out where this song actually came from, what the story was behind it, and what might be coming up for the artist.

Thanks so much for taking the time! Let's jump right into "Heels Running"! 

Where did this track come from and what was it about?

I’m actually in a really happy relationship at the moment but leading up to this, I think it would be fair to say I kissed a few frogs and a couple of them for a minute I actually thought were princes. Things started getting serious but I knew they were playing me.. that usual scenario of love bombing, go on one date and they wanna marry you and this is me saying.. no thanks mate I’m good and getting out before I got in too deep! When the red flags are right infront of your face and poking you in the eye.. you gotta take notice! 

I am hearing a few different styles on this release. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

My biggest influences believe it or not.. I actually went right back. There’s a little bit of Shirley Bassey, Soul II Soul, Raye, Christina Aguilera but I guess all of these iconic women are a part of who I am because they’re all who I’ve listened to growing up. 

Are you performing live right now?

Oh yeah! I’m doing loads of Pride Festivals throughout the UK, I’ve just come off of tour with Rebecca Ferguson and I’m going on tour supporting The Wanted 2.0 in October. I’ve also got another tour in September unannounced at the moment but what I can say is.. it’s going to be my biggest one yet! 

How did your journey as an artist begin?

Growing up my dad had loads of old vinyls I used to love listening to so I was pretty immersed in the old school classics from my childhood! 

Did you work with a producer on this song, or was this all you?

My regular producer Dee Adam and I brought in Bradford Ellis from The Next Men.. he’s an absolute G - we loved working with him!! 

What's next for you? Working on more new releases?

The rest of 2026 is looking busy! As well as the festivals and tours I’ve got coming up I’m also releasing a few more singles and then my debut album “Love Languages” at the end of November. 

What kind of advice would you give to other up and coming bands or artists trying to get heard?

I would say to anyone up and coming.. think outside of the box! There’s no right or wrong way - you just want as many people to listen to your music as possible. I’ve learnt to get out of my comfort zone and put myself out there. It took a minute because you do end up doing the job of so many people but the music industry is ever changing and I want to be a part of it so I have to move with it. 

What would you say people can expect to hear on this single?

SASS! Passion, some pretty sick ad libs if I do say so myself.. most importantly, I think you can hear how much fan we had making it just by listening to it. 

Before we go, what would you want to express to fans of the music?

I think the biggest thing I want to express is gratitude. I wouldn’t be making the music I do without my fans supporting me by buying tickets to my headline shows, getting my merch, streaming my music. As an independent artist having such incredible support is the most incredible thing!
