Phil Swanson

Growing up the son of a Methodist pastor and an English teacher; words, phrasing, meanings and images were all part of the landscape. Phil was drawn to music at an early age as a way by which he could express himself more clearly. After early piano and trumpet lessons, he began playing the guitar & writing songs when he was a teenager. Playing in garage bands through high school, an acoustic duo in college, and several post-college bands, he finally came to realize that writing his own material was what really made him happy and seemed to connect with listeners. Guitar in hand, he decided to express himself in words & music. Phil is a singer/songwriter who's writing is influenced by the world and the people around him, the constantly changing rhythm of life in the 21st century. Simple and to the point, he draws on subjects and images that affect him profoundly; longing, love, hope, and the search for truth & discovery in today's rather pot-holed landscape. In 2017, Phil released his first album of all original material entitled Kicking Up Stones. "I try to write about our shared human experience. My writing serves as my own personal signpost along this journey of life, a testament to the journey those far." Phil's second album, Transmissions From A Heart, was released in September 2023.
