Mooses Just Gave Us a Huge Album

A new album release from Mooses delivers a colorful but still edgy rock approach that embodies and encompasses such a large range of influences that this record comes through with its own atmosphere and feels experimental, fun, energetic, charismatic, and those are the elements that you end up getting attached to first and foremost.

The self-titled album definitely doesn't shy away from getting a bit heavy and some of the guitar tone really hits hard with classic riffs that reminds you of grunge but they also bring in a little bit of vastness in their underbelly so you have this expansive and almost psychedelic feel that includes not only an alternative and indie rock feel but also the approach of making music that has no boundaries.

I feel like that's what really lets this album get so addictive. By the time you get a few songs in you begin to expect the unexpected. This is the kind of record that you need to listen to from beginning to end because if you listen to just a few songs from it, you may get a gist of what's to come but you're not getting the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole and that's just a shame.

Listen to this full record because it becomes more of an experience and an escape. This record has the ability to pull you away from your surroundings and put you in a different place altogether and I feel like that's kind of a gift musically.

While certain songs feel lush and vast, others come through hard hitting and impactful with punk tones and influences as well. So, you're getting just a slew of different rock influences throughout the course of this record and that's part of what makes it so much fun to listen to.

The riffs are amazing and memorable. They feel a bit familiar at times because like I said, a lot of these have a thrashy punk or classic grunge type of feel to them along with other more atmospheric guitars floating through the ethers of some of the songs.

I like this aspect. There's a sort of welcoming about it but, along with that familiar sort of undertone, you have a lot of that experimental freshness as well that layers on top of that so again, you begin to expect the unexpected and that becomes kind of the theme of the record.

The vocals are sort of animated and they work really well to add a lot of the hooks to some of the songs that end up sticking in your head, but the guitar work really has to take the cake in my opinion.

It's not just the riffs of the tones there's also all kinds of experimental lead stuff going on that really build intensity for some of the songs and when you listen to this record you get the feeling that a lot of it was recorded live on the floor.

Maybe not the entire track but the base of them feels like it was recorded live simply because it seems almost like everyone involved was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time.

This in turn, is part of what lets the record have an alive and breathing sort of vibe to it.

The energy is completely electric. It is a really big push for the aesthetic of this release, and it works perfectly because again, these guys balance that edginess and that color amazingly well and their performances are high octane and high energy so it's a lot to take in, but it feels great to do just that.

This is a 14-track release so that in itself should just tell you that this was created for the sake of creating it.

This is a passion project for these guys and they're in love with doing what they do which is something that you can hear with every single track on the record.

Their craft isn't just playing their instruments or singing. Their craft is writing songs together that are different, outside the box, a bit impactful, have fluctuations and intensity, they feel alive, and they hit with a strange warmth that lets them come through still heavy, but with a looseness within its precision.

To clarify, the record sounds live, and the songs feel like they have a little bit of a freeing sort of looseness to them, but the songs are arranged perfectly and have outstanding performances with elements of intricate sections throughout them.

This is my favorite combination.

Take a deep dive into this album as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
