Martin Kuiper

Debuting at the age of 49 with an album is not common in the music industry, but Martin Kuiper from the Netherlands does it. Music has been his passion from an early age, but being able to learn well, uncertainty and the standard expectations of his environment make Martin hesitate for a long time about releasing music. At the age of seventeen he started studying Physics, but ultimately music was never far away. He is graduating with scientific research into the singing voices of pop and rock singers. A completed study in journalism follows and music comes into play again when Martin completes his final journalistic internship at Mtv in London. Once out of college, Martin founded the video interview platform FaceCulture, www.youtube.com/faceculture, a platform where almost 15 thousand video interviews with (inter)national artists can now be seen. In 2018, Martin goes one step further and starts live documentary evenings with well-known artists in music venues and theaters using various self-devised formats such as Iconic Albums, Musical Footsteps and Behind the Music, www.behindthemusic.nl. Over the years, Martin has built up many contacts within the music industry and musician friends encourage him to release his own songs. And so it happens. With the help of multi-instrumentalists Erik Neimeijer and Jim Zwinselman, Martin records ten songs in music studio Hillroad Records in 2023 under the direction of producer Ruud Tijs and the result can be heard on the album To Feel Is To Believe. The ten songs on To Feel Is To Believe have traveled a long journey. Ice Flower is the oldest song. Martin wrote this in his parents' bedroom in Hengelo (O) in the late 1990s. The other songs originated in Groningen, Amsterdam, Loenen aan de Vecht and Ruurlo, where Martin studied and lived respectively. Martin loves melodic pop and rock music, in which beautiful choirs are never far away. That music can also be heard on To Feel Is To Believe. The album title describes the journey that Martin has taken. If you feel something, you have to believe in it and do it. Have fun listening! Martin Kuiper ps: To Feel Is To Believe is the beginning of a triptych. Work is already underway on the EP Dreaming Of A Sea Time with synthesizer influences and the rock album Prison Of Modesty.
