Imaginal Cells

IMAGINAL CELLS is a Modern Progressive Metal band based in Phoenix, AZ. The band is composed of Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning artists, and includes members of 80s recording artist Sacred Rite (Medusa/Restless Records, Axe Killer Records, No Remorse). Their completed concept album Purified is mixed by multiple award-winning Jimmy Caterine and is ready for vinyl and digital release with mastering by industry legend Maor Appelbaum. The earthy music of IMAGINAL CELLS is rich in organic tones and textures with pounding tribal polyrhythms. A classic sonic palette layered with lush vocal harmonies and sampled sounds of nature give their music a fresh and distinctive sound. While their psychedelic music is current and unique, it harkens back to Classic Progressive Rock and Heavy Metal. Their well-constructed songs are dynamic and densely interwoven. Their hard-hitting lyrics are relevant and thought provoking, and address sociopolitical and environmental challenges. IMAGINAL CELLS' album Purified has an elaborate concept that is inspired by the apocalyptic prophecies of various Native American tribal elders who have warned of cataclysmic immune responses to a human species out of balance on the living Earth. The songs are strung together with themes of the contagious psycho spiritual disease, Wetiko, described in Algonquian folklore as a cannibalistic mind parasite that is the embodiment of gluttony, selfishness, and greed. An immersive journey interwoven with lush soundscapes and compelling musical passages, IMAGINAL CELLS' stark and poignant Purified is a most relevant record in these critical times. Purified is slated for release before the end of 2024. Before the album release, the band has recorded a series of covers that they deem to be some of their biggest influences. These cover singles will be releasing between Feb and Sept of 2024 prior to the debut all original album.
