Ezy Konbini Joins Forces with LION to Create An Addictive Electronic Banger

A new single drop from Ezy Konbini delivers a rambunctious and addictive electronic soundscape that blends and bends subgenres with free will, giving off a robust and danceable atmosphere that portrays a heavy-handed pop overtone but isn't afraid to dip into experimental synthesizers, keys, and songwriting approaches, all while making sure you'll want to move your body the entire time.
VOLT CAGE is definitely a hard track not to dance to. It's got deep-pocketed grooves, but it's on the upswing. It's a faster tempo, has great edgy overtones, and most certainly feels a little wild, but is produced with attention to detail.
Ezy is joined by LION on the track, and I feel like this is like a musical match made in heaven. They definitely click with each other, completely understand the mission, and complement each other in terms of what they bring to the table.
The synthesizers across this track vary, and this is part of why it bends electronic genres so much. Ezy isn't afraid to bring in some unexpected sounds, and he's amazing at sculpting an atmosphere for you to get engulfed by.
Of course, when I say this, I mean it in the best ways possible. Getting wrapped up in a soundscape like this is ultimately fun, and the vocals that are added on really bring a certain swagger that works amazingly with the attitude of the track itself instrumentally.
You get these almost glitchy elements in there, but they're done mostly percussively. There's so much cool beat work going on between the hi-hats and the snares, the kick, and everything else involved. This is not just a straight-up, four-on-the-floor-style drum beat. It does carry with it that pop feel, but it is definitely a little outside the box and pushes boundaries.
This is part of how Ezy works as a producer in general. You can hear a slew of influences that he holds close to his heart, and he is able to pull some of those in and create something that feels original yet familiar at the same time.
The whole thing has a strangely cinematic backbone. The overall edginess of it brings with it a closed-fisted tone, but at the same time, it's colorful and has a certain brightness to it as well.
Just because it's edgy doesn't mean it's dark. It's actually packed with flavor, and the different synthesizer tones come at you from all angles.
There is definitely a melodic drive happening, and the energy is absolutely outstanding. Nothing about this is super over the top. Instead, it's all very well dynamically balanced while still giving off an intense sort of energy that becomes infectious.
As I mentioned before, it's a very danceable track. If you're listening to it while you're driving in the car, you'll be moving your butt in your seat or at least bobbing your head along with it, but if you're listening to it at home, just push the couch back so you can dance around the living room.
There are certain sections of the song where, between all the instruments and the vocals, it feels kind of sporadic. There are a lot of layers of texture going on at once. It can feel almost overwhelming, but that's part of the vibe as well.
It's a lot of sonic presence that's sort of flowing through one area at one time.
There are different sets of vocals that come in and out, giving different levels of that swagger and attitude, and throughout it all, you have these experimental synth tones, bends, and alarms that go off, giving you bigger, more intense, climactic moments throughout the entire thing.
I love how the vocals hit with that blend of pop, club, and elements of hip-hop all at once. They are very robust and boisterous; they belt out and have lots of fun, and that's the right kind of attitude for a song like this.
As I mentioned before, it's a damn-near-perfect blend of color and edginess. It's in your face, but it's also welcoming at the same time.
All kinds of effects are running through different parts of the song as well, not just on the synthesizers and keys, but also on the vocals a lot of the time.
You have certain vocals that come through distorted or decimated, while other ones have delay on them. There's just loads of these layers coming through, and it's a lot to chew on.
But again, that's also part of the point. This is a single that's supposed to give you that level of meat to chew on. It's supposed to come at you from all these different angles and deliver loads of that sonic drive everywhere.
It definitely accomplishes its job.
This is a track that boasts loads of character, partially due to LION as well, but Ezy was able to create this huge atmosphere that comes through exactly the way he intended it to.
This is a single you listen to at a good volume level. It's addicting, blends classic and new-school approaches together, and hits just hard enough to make its point.
I wanted to have a sit-down with Ezy to find out where the track came from and what might be coming up next.
So, while you dig into this track, have a read through our interview with the producer below.
Most certainly take a deep dive into this one as soon as you can, and remember where you heard it first.
Where did this track come from to begin with?
This release is the first single from my upcoming debut album VECTOR, which prominently delves into the sound of late 2000s electro. “VOLT CAGE” was one of the earliest tracks that informed the direction of the album.
How did you end up collaborating with LION on this?
I really enjoy LION's (@thisislionofficial) music and love their energetic vocals and live performances. I knew the track would truly come to life with LION on board. I also had a commentator section in mind while working on this track (inspired by Beyoncé's Renaissance, no doubt), and LION was the perfect fit!
I am hearing loads of killer approaches here! Who are some of your biggest musical influences?
“VOLT CAGE” was hugely inspired by Frost Children, especially their track “ELECTRIC” (2025). The other major influence was “The Big Jump” by The Chemical Brothers (2005). I love the revving sound samples, which I also similarly utilised in my track.
Are you the main producer on this? What kind of gear do you use to create?
I produced the track, with all vocals and lyrics by LION. I use Ableton and typically work with samples and VSTs unless I feel like bringing in a hardware synth like a 303, depending on the genre.
Do you do live sets or performances, or is this mainly a recording project?
I DJ quite often! I am part of the SV|BS community (@svbsmelbourne), and we hold events every month featuring varied and niche electronic genres. I will be hosting a VECTOR album launch party early next year, with LION performing “VOLT CAGE” live.
This had a wild feel to it! Do you feel like your music reflects who you are as a person at times?
Definitely! I try to maintain a positive outlook in life, and my music for VECTOR reflects an uplifting mood that aims to capture the energy of live shows. Working on music is truly my passion, and I just want to share the good vibes with everyone :)
Are you already working on new material now?
VECTOR is coming in early 2027! It's a big album, so if you enjoyed “VOLT CAGE,” stay tuned...
Do you mix your own stuff as well?
Yes, I mix and master all my music.
What would you say people can expect from this release?
VECTOR is an electric wild ride that twists and turns through genres you probably didn't expect!
So, you feel like LION brought a new energy to the song?
Absolutely. I don't think this track would have resonated with listeners as greatly if it were just an instrumental. Thank you so much, LION!
Before we go, is there anything you'd like to say to listeners or fans of the music?
Thank you to all my fans and listeners for following my journey so far. VECTOR marks a re-debut for Ezy Konbini, both visually and genre-wise, and I believe that delving into the album with an open mind will leave you pleasantly surprised :)
