ET Boys are back with a new single that has a heavy-handed edginess to it, along with massive sonic drive, and this fierce sort of approach that comes through vivacious but still has elements of darkness in its underbelly.
"Holy Ghost" is a track that brings a slew of approaches and influences that create something addictive and leans on this hip-hop and rap style, but has gigantic synth work and electric soundscapes.
Right from the start, you have a very unique style of synth that brings in the mood for the track, and when the vocals come in, they are already intense right from the beginning, so this energy level stays super high throughout the entire track, and that is really attention-grabbing.
There is a sonic grittiness to this track, but it's also bright and neon lit in its own sense. It has a robust and lush feel and sound, combining synth textures with classic hip-hop beats that come with layers of vocals, including these little hooks that bounce between certain lyrics of the verses.
This is one of the reasons the track stands out. It is built with fewer boundaries than what you may be used to, and I love how it combines these elements of a sort of edgy indie or alternative pop, with that hip hop and rap approach, because that gives it its own feel and atmosphere.
The vocals are a key element to this track because it does have the main hook and up-front vocals, which are a little harsh and heavy-handed because it's got a little bit of emotion behind it, and that intensity is big throughout the track.
I think that's a good word for it. The track is very intense. It is right in your face as soon as it begins, and you get pulled into the deep-pocketed groove of it all while being spellbound by that sonic presence.
Now, aside from those main hooky vocals, you have these other backing tracks that again, bounce between the hooks, and those are almost haunting in a way.
As the track unfolds further, you have these other synths and keys that come in with an eerie tonality, and that pushes that little edginess or 'haunt factor' more so, which is part of the idea behind the track itself.
The way they put this together is brilliant simply because it puts out this aesthetic and vibe that you catch on to, and that feeling stays with you throughout the course of the track and even after.
This was a heavy-handed banger right from the get-go, and it speaks volumes for these guys, who we are very familiar with by the way.
ET Boys are well known for breaking boundaries and reaching outside the box when they're creating their music, so that's why their approach is so unique.
They never conform to standards or what you might expect to hear.
If they're able to pull together tracks like this. Songs that are catchy, addictive, charismatic, but also have that avant-garde approach, where it feels like a combination of genres or like something you haven't quite heard before.
They really push that sonic drive over the top with this one, but it works perfectly for the aesthetic and intensity of the track.
This was a massive single, and these guys really create music based on what they're feeling at the time.
Hear everything perfectly in terms of the lyrics and the dynamic of how they're performed. The lyrical phrasing, bouncing in between those beats, while all happening, you have that massive drive that brings an almost a fuzz tone feel to everything.
This is definitely different, and ET Boys seem to outdo themselves with each track they drop.
These guys release songs with no walls built around them so songs like this one feel freeing in a sense.
Again, it is heavy. It's a heavy track in its own right, and I don't mean in a heavy metal kind of way, I just mean in a sonically driving kind of way. It is pounding, and the vocals follow suit with that energy level perfectly.
It's amazing to me how well this is put together while still having that element of edginess, grittiness, fuzz tone, and decimation.
There's a lot of fire behind this track that comes through in the vocals and the soundscape of the music itself, and these guys are absolutely able to continually push their own boundaries.
Absolutely listen to this track as soon as you can and turn it loud because that's exactly the way it was meant to be heard.
Dig into this electro-divergent hip hop opus and really soak it in.
Remember where you heard this first.
