Emm Gryner Drops A Theatrically Driven New Single and Video

An absolutely gorgeous new single from Emm Gryner delivers a theatrical and impactful approach riddled with character, charisma, personality, and such a robust and tasteful sense of vigor that it's almost impossible to turn away from.

This song reaches into such truths and personal attributes, and the lyrics are so incredibly connective. This is a very emotionally bound single and Emm seems very unafraid to really put those emotions out there for everyone.

I think this is why it's a brave single. She just opens up and lets all those inner thoughts and emotions come flowing out, which is something that makes the song all the more powerful.

"Touch The Sky" is a very gracefully performed piece of work that does indeed come with that theatrical aesthetic, with piano as its main instrument and boisterous vocals that really balance the song out dynamically.

When the moments of the song are more subtle, she follows suit and delivers vocals that are more delicate, you're able to pay attention to those lyrics and really soak them in.

When the song becomes robust, during those choruses, especially, the vocals are big and have a heavier hand in the performances, delivering that huge emotional point of climactic revelation.

The song feels like it's really about a relationship. Having lost something and then getting it back, being reinvigorated and feeling like you can touch the sky. Realizing that the person you're with is the right person, and you can really do anything now. It's a sense of empowerment.

Now, everyone that listens to the song will take it a little differently. This is how I interpreted it. However, the song was actually written as a tribute to a single mission in space exploration and one of the most important ones in Canada's history.

So, knowing this, I listened to the song a few more times and really picked up on those things as well. Now I hear the song a little differently than I did the first time around.

That's the beauty of songs like this. You can take it on a more personal note if you want to. I suppose it does depend on what's going on in your life, because whatever is happening to you, will affect how you interpret certain songs.

This is an amazing example of exactly that.

I found it astounding that this song had such a powerful impact on me on a personal level, and was about a space mission. Again, once I re-listened to the song a few more times, I was really able to pick up on those attributes and take it a little less metaphorically and a bit more literally.

Emm is absolutely brilliant at putting together lyrics that have a certain kind of flow to them and are able to depict and describe emotion and detail so incredibly well.

As the song unfolds, it becomes more and more impactful, orchestrated strings come in, guitars come in, you hear different influences coming to the plate and I found that really refreshing.

The balance between theatrical and cinematic is always there, but I also hear contemporary, singer-songwriter, even classic rock being infused within this track in certain sections.

It was colorful and flavorful but had such a dramatic and unwavering overtone. It's a song that dedicates itself to being proud and reflecting on something that was so detrimental and impactful to people's lives at the time.

To that final chorus, everything is amazingly full throttle. It is intense at its highest level, it layers of vocals are in and out, filling any empty space with lush harmony and everything has a bigger Sonic presence.

I found this song to be something that's stuck with me for quite a while.

Listening to this song with headphones is one of the best ways to do it, especially for the first time, simply because there are a lot of different textures between acoustic guitars, pianos, strings, vocals, and everything else involved. Taking in those layers with headphones lets you really swim through this song and get yourself involved with the emotion it delivers.

Again, you can interpret this however you like. I enjoyed interpreting it before and after I found out what it was actually about.

Both times it had the same impact on me.

Along with this song comes a vibrant and visually enticing music video that showcases the artist performing, giving off that presence on film, along with clips of astronauts, shuttles rocketing off into the sky, and more.

I found the music video to be really a perfect way to wrap the song up and let it have that one whole purpose.

Of course, we've embedded that music video below for your viewing pleasure and again, if you decide to watch the video to listen to the song for the first time, turn it up or put on headphones.

Emm is already a very well-known Canadian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with three Juno Award nominations under her belt.

After listening to this song and watching the video, I can see exactly why.

Check this out right now and don't forget we heard it first.
