Chani Delivers An Honest new Single

ree

An addictive new single release from Chani delivers quite a refreshing approach to conscious and relevant hip hop with a wonderful blend of edginess, color, character, and poise.

"Casual" serves as a testament to an artist who is unafraid to speak her mind freely, no matter what. This is important because that's what true artistry is about. It's about self-expression and building that art form with fewer boundaries than whatever you may be used to.

Chani is a perfect example of one of those artists. She's able to pull together a track that makes perfect sense and is almost universal.

"Causal" seems to be about a lot, but focuses more on a sort of passive-aggressive element that is dubbed 'causal' in the world today, and people use it on a constant basis.

It's such a heavy-handed message and works simply because of the way she's able to articulate her lyrics.

Not only is she able to speak her mind with such a great approach, but it all becomes so quickly connected and understandable, relatable, and right in plain view. We are all able to really nod our heads in agreement with everything that she's saying.

We do this because she's absolutely right.

I love how she has the guts to just come right out and get into it.

She is an artist who takes her rapping approach seriously but still has that element of vibrancy to it.

She bounces and has an unmistakable flavor. While she has this vivacious energy and aesthetic, she's delving into topics that can be hot-button or that she just feels strongly about.

This gives the song layers and depth. This is also something that's really important these days because when you're listening to a track like this, you want to be able to understand everything that's going on.

She lays it all out on the line and does it in such a perfect way.

The track hits hard.

So, you have the messaging, the depth, and the energy all in one spot, and because of how honest she is about it and how intense her performance can be throughout the track, you get a load of character.

I'm a fan of any kind of music that's able to deliver this level of personality.

Her lyrical phrasing, timing, and approach are all spot on. You can tell that Chani pays a lot of attention to the little details in terms of how she wants the point to come across.

Her lyrics sit perfectly between the beats while still delivering that message and sentiment it's meant to have.

The other cool thing about this artist is that she really puts together songs that blend genres at times.

This track has a heavy pop sensibility to it and does beckon certain kinds of classic or old school, almost 80s or 90s soundscapes at times.

I love all of this because she takes all of these different influences and rolls them up into one track that comes at you with a little bit of a fiery feel, but again, lots of character.

It's that character that we end up getting attached to right from the start.

She holds very little back and really doesn't write with walls built around her.

The track has a great beat that feels kind of heavy, awesome synthesizers that flow throughout the track, adding more edginess here and there, and guitars that break into an almost reggae style aesthetic during those choruses.

That blend of genres is always there, as I mentioned. The chorus does have that bopping, reggae rhythm, and it flows perfectly in and out of those verses.

This track delivers a load of cultural flair, outspoken truths, bubbling charisma, and an endlessly spirited performance that all become something that gives off such a robust and full-bodied atmosphere.

This is a single that speaks volumes for the artist, especially in terms of bringing on multiple approaches in one track and plenty of artistic presence.

You can sort of feel that energy and how infectious it is.

It's also a danceable track, and feels great to listen to.

This single follows another release earlier this year called "Magnetic", which is a bit more experimental but still features her very unique approaches in terms of vocals and songwriting.

The production is slightly outlandish, utilizing avant-garde and outside-the-box synthesizers and keys to give it a refreshing feel, and she falls right into place vocally throughout the entire thing.

Both of these tracks are well worth your time, especially if you want to hear something that's got heart, purpose, and is different from what you may be used to.

So, take a deep dive into both of these tracks as soon as you can and remember where you heard them first.
