An Interview with Sicily Rose

A brand-new single release from Sicily Rose brings out a vivacious and high-octane country rock soundscape with a character-riddled performance and a little bit of a rowdy undertone that makes the song feel great to listen to nice and loud.

"HoDown" definitely wastes no time coming in swinging and that energy level is through the roof the entire time which makes the song super addictive, and believe me when I tell you, this is one of those songs you can't sit still for.

You will either get up and start dancing around the room, or you'll be shaking your butt in your seat if you're driving the car. Either way, you're moving and this is something you can't help when you listen to this song because it's got such a great deep southern groove that you can't get away from it.

The vocal performance throughout this track shines with presence and personality. I think this is an important aspect when you're coming out there as an artist, especially in the genre of country or pop because in case you hadn't noticed, country fans are pretty die-hard.

It's a good thing for them Sicily Rose is the full package and one of her strongest attributes is her ability to write songs that hit hard and come through with something that feels authentic staying true to the genre but also giving it a refreshing spin at the same time.

When you listen to this track you can tell she's actually having an amazing time doing it to the point where the whole thing feels almost like it was recorded live on the floor to an extent so that all the players involved could just feed off of each other the entire time.

Even if I'm wrong about the whole alive on the floor thing, listening to this track certainly makes you want to go see her perform it live because if the energy is captured this well on record then seeing it live must be amazing.

She's got a youthful and soulful vocal style to the way that she performed especially on this track in particular and the guitar work matches that energy super well.

One of my favorite things about this whole release is the accompanying music video because not only does it match that level of energy but it also shows even more of her character.

You can tell that Sicily is an artist that puts everything into what she's doing, definitely takes a lot of time to pay attention to detail both musically and Visually and this is part of what makes for the whole package in general.

Sicily Rose has everything that a country star should have and more. She hits all the sweet spots and she's an outstanding songwriter.

After listening to this track I took a little bit of a deep dive into her back catalog and came across about four other singles that were outstanding, and each showed a little bit of a different side of her songwriting approach and personality as well.

If you dig this song then you're going to dig everything that she's so far guaranteed.

Again, it's that character in that personality that you end up getting attached to right from the get-go.

After cranking this song and watching the music video we figured we should have a sit-down with Sicily to find out where this track came from, what kind of things inspire her, and what may be coming up next.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Let's kick things off with "Ho Down". This song has an addictive energy and vibrancy to it! Where did this song come from?

Well, me and the writers wanted to sit down and write something fun and exciting and that is how it came to life!

Buzz Slayers: When did this all start for you? When did you fall in love with music?

I have loved music since I was a little girl, my family is very musical so there was always someone singing or playing guitar or piano around and I just knew it was something I wanted to do.

Buzz Slayers: What inspires you to write a song?

Everything! I try to find inspiration everywhere and anywhere; I'm constantly putting thoughts down in my notes.

Buzz Slayers: This track has an outstanding mix of styles! Can you give us some of your top musical influences?

Gosh there are so many to name, but if I had to name a few it would have to be Miranda Lambert, Reba and Fleetwood Mac will always be a huge inspiration to me.

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

Well, I do work hard on my socials as well, but in my free time, I love to be back home in Montana with my horse, But I have found a new love for Fishing here in Tennessee.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

Zach Bryan, I just have not been able to get enough of his new album.

Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?

Not yet but stay tuned!

Buzz Slayers: This song feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming artists out there?

To just go for it. Put yourself out there and trust in the process. I feel like with each song I write and put out that it truly brings so much growth to my music.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

More music for sure and shows. I'm so ready to be on stage!

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

Just thank you so much for all the love and support, I truly love you all so much and don’t know what I would do without each and every one of you!
