An Interview With Rotted Remains

In a soiree of vicious and ground shattering riffs, Rotted Remains hits the ground running with their new single complete with vigorous and intense vocals, pulse pounding drones and then absolutely destructive style.

"Spilt Your Guts" gives off elements of classic metal mixed with New York style hardcore and thrash all in one massive blitzkrieg of a blow. The guitar sounds are thick and full and doubled vocals are crushing and the drums can make you tired just from listening to them but what's really cool is that the song makes you move. You'll bang your head, you'll wanna jump around the room, it gets your blood flowing and that's what songs like this are meant to do when they are released. Maybe a release of aggression. Maybe a release of something else but either way you'll get your fill with this single. You get some awesome hints of black and death metal in there in different places but all in all, this is something that you can get into. It's exciting and manic, and that is a whole lot of damn fun. The band is super tight too. These guys have it together and you can tell they have a real love for their craft. Definitely a great showcase of musicianship that comes across in an impactful and stomping way. This track is certainly for true to heart metal lovers of all kinds. If you love that thrash sound, if you love that dark metal sound, if you like that harcore feel, if you like a little grind in your music, rotted remains is for you and this track certainly displays plenty of the band's better attributes. AKA, this is a metal banger from start to finish. So, call your friends, make some space in the living room, and turn it up. Now with the release of such a killer thrasher, we wanted to have a sit down with some of Rotted Remains to see exactly where this song came from and what might be coming next for the band. Here's what went down. *The answers are from Keith Keister (guitar) & Cory Keister (bass). BuzzSlayers: Let's kick things off with "Spilt Your Guts". This track has a blistering metal feel and hits hard! Where did this single come from? Keith : Thank you. This song is actually one I wrote just messing around mixing hardcore influences with the death metal style we usually do. I really didn’t expect it to take off like it did but it’s quickly become a hit live, and one of our favorites to play. BuzzSlayers: When did this all start for you guys? Cory and Reece started RR in 2018. There wasn’t much death metal in Panama City at the time and these 2 set out to change that, partly because nobody else was doing it, and also to play the type of music that we listened to on a daily basis anyway. Members have come and gone but we feel like we have the right set of people and some of the best musicians in the panhandle. BuzzSlayers: What inspires you to write and release a new song? Cory: We get inspiration from all over. A lot of our ideas come from just sitting around and talking about things and tossing around ideas. We’re all pretty creative and it seems new ideas just flow constantly.

Keith: Inspiration strikes when it does. Are we inspired by the things we write about? Maybe? Have we done any of the things we talk about in our music and have that inspire us to write a song about it? Maybe? But can you prove it? I doubt it. BuzzSlayers: This song has some brutal styles! Can you give us some of your top musical influences? Keith: My musical influences are quite eclectic . I draw inspiration from anything like The Black Dahlia Murder, Deicide, King Diamond but I also draw influence from bands like First Blood , Power Trip. BuzzSlayers: What are you all doing when you're NOT working on music?

If you’ve read any of our lyrics it’s all pretty apparent. Hangin out with cats, cheifin fat blunts and doing real wild Florida man shit. BuzzSlayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?

Keith: Crime Boss , OJ Da Juiceman, Backtrack, lil Mariko, He Is Legend , first blood, and belphegor. Cory: Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Power Trip, Slayer BuzzSlayers: Are you guys doing any live performances right now? We have our last show of the year this Sunday the 18th at Moseys Downtown Panama City, and so much lined up for 2023. We will be announcing several South east dates soon! BuzzSlayers: This track feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming bands out there? No one is going to put the time into you like you’re going to. If you want it go get it. None of this is easy but we do it because we love it. BuzzSlayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

More music, shows , merch, music videos , idk probably a tour with Metallica or something. BuzzSlayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music? If you have already listened to us before , thank you for your support. If you’re new to us and this is your first time hearing about us thanks for reading this far. We’re gonna keep it fast we’re gonna keep it heavy and do it the way we want to. We hope you’ll come along for the ride.
