An Interview with Mila Nabours

A single release from Mila Nabours delivers a fun and colorful but honest pop single that blends elements of R&B into an atmospheric backbone and the whole soundscape comes through with a blend of old and new school approaches that let the song both breathe and deliver hints of edginess in its underbelly.

"feel so right" definitely breeds some honesty and it gives you a little bit of insight into Mila as a person and her character which is really important for an artist in general, but Mila does this with such a natural approach that everything has a wonderfully forward moving flow.

The song definitely has a youthful sort of cry out and it is so relatable that it's the type of song that could have served as part of the soundtrack to a chapter in your own life at some point which is another thing that I adore about the track.

This is also insanely danceable and addictive because when the songs over there are parts of it that sort of stick around in your brain for a long time and the only way to really satiate that is to listen to it again.

So, it is very catchy, and it does have some great hooks involved but her performance vocally is one of the biggest things that grabs you because it lets her presence as an artist really shine and you can tell that there's something there.

This was a very well-woven single and again, it blends the classic and almost vintage pop aspects with refreshing and current ones so, you have the best of those two different worlds coming together and creating this atmosphere.

I definitely love the honesty that comes out through this track because it lets you understand Mila a little bit more and it lets her give a little piece of herself as an artist and that's what a great artist does with their music.

This ended up being very lush and full-bodied, danceable, fun, was performed with plenty of perfectly balanced charisma and personality, and it was memorable.

With the release of the single, we wanted to have a sit-down with Mila to find out where the track actually came from and what might be coming up next for the artist.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Okay Mila, let's start with Feel So Right! This track has some genuine personality! This is about meeting someone special for the first time. How did this come about?

Thank you! The concept started during the writing session when my co-writers and I were catching up about our lives and how things are changing — we started brainstorming writing about real life experiences and hopefully ones others could relate to. I started sharing about how I felt when meeting someone special, and we started to expand on those intense and exciting emotions in order to create meaningful and personal lyrics.

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you musically?

We wanted to create a song that was upbeat and felt good. I talked with my producer about figuring out the kind of sound I wanted for the track, and after some sculpting and correcting, we had our final track we loved.

Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?

Lyrically, there are a lot of different thoughts and processes that go through my head to spark songs. That could be important memories, new perspectives on life, and emotions I may be going through during that time. Musically, through listening to different artists and songs, I get inspired by different kinds of beats and sounds that I have the urge to put my own spin on — while still incorporating my own style.

Buzz Slayers: This release has some great approaches to it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

Sound wise, I’ve been really into Pop, R&B, mixed with some Indie Vibes.

I love The Weeknd, Chase Atlantic, Lizzy McAlpine, The Neighborhood, & more. I love how authentic their music sounds, and the creativity and soul shown through their songs.

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

Apart from my passion for music, I am currently in college, managing a full load of classes and schoolwork. Additionally, I am actively involved in acting jobs and projects. Despite these commitments, I make it a priority to maintain a balanced social life and enjoy things I love such as nature.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

I’ve been getting into some EDM lately, so besides my usual artists I mentioned, I’ve been exploring new genres of music. (No specific artist currently)

Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances in L.A. right now?

I perform in LA almost every month, at different fundraisers, events, & shows.

Buzz Slayers: Do you record these at a big studio, or do you have a home studio set-up?

I record at a studio with the producer I’ve been working with since the beginning, Andrew Lane. We not only record together, but also collaborate on writing and finalizing my music.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

Besides my new song coming out on May 31st, I’ll be continuing to write and record new music not only solo, but with other artists, which I’m very looking forward to. I’ll also keep my audience updated with any upcoming shows & events I’m performing in.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

I’d like to say a big thank you to anyone supporting my journey and tuning in on my new releases :) I like to use my social media to share all of my passions and projects, so I’m very appreciative to everyone following along.
