An Interview With Lost Relics

A new release from Lost Relics hits hard with a heavy-handed doom metal tonality that breeds heavy drudgery and riffs that shake the ground beneath your feet straight from the get-go.

"Hangxiety" is absolutely massive and vast with a deep and full-bodied soundscape that creeps through your skin and into your bones.

You almost immediately find yourself wanting to know the lyrics so that you can yell right alongside them with your fists in the air.

The track is a complete banger, and the guys hold absolutely nothing back when it comes to pure wholehearted riffs and perfectly balanced aggression with dark-edged approaches and distortion that rattles you.

The single is driving and brutal in all the best ways possible. A completely mosh-worthy doom rock soiree got both influences from the classics and bears and almost live performance feel where the players are feeding off of each other's energies the whole time.

There's literally nothing not to love about this song, especially for anyone that loves most forms of metal but really this particular style blends these grungy and gothic Styles together and it makes the song boundless.

When the track is over you have to reground yourself again and acclimate to reality because this track definitely takes you somewhere else altogether.

It's been a while since I heard a single that really gets my blood pumping like this does and it feels good to finally have one.

There are no filters and there's no pristine polish or Sheen to it.

This release is and comes at you like a sucker punch to the gut.

I think we all need something like that every once in a while, and if you're going to get it then "Hangxiety" is the place to do so.

One of the other great things about this track is that it never loses that purebred energy and it just makes you want to see them live and in your face because they most likely tear it up.

I mean, if they can destroy as they do on this recording then I'm sure a live show is going to be a face-melter.

Definitely turn this one up to 10 on the volume and make some space in the living room to get down.

With the release of such a killer single, we wanted to have a sit-down with Lost Relics to find out where this track actually came from and what might be coming up next for the band.

Here's what went down.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with "Hangxiety"! This track was thrashed out with a massive heaviness and came through super fun! How did this single come about?

This song like all Lost Relics songs started with the mighty riff. Jess is a riff machine and turns out the foundations of our compositions. He is the RZA of Lost Relics.

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you guys as a band?

We have all been playing in different bands in Denver and we all wanted to do something a little heavier and aggressive. We talked at a few BBQs then set up a jam. It clicked pretty quickly.

Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?

The overwhelmingly petty narcissistic ignorant state of the world is the foundation of most of our songs. Most of our songs address societal ills and intolerance, of which there is no shortage in America.

Buzz Slayers: This song has some great styles on it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

We all have different influences that seep into our music. We are all into punk, hardcore and sludge. As a collective we hear Unsane, Helmet, Melvins, Eyehategod whispered at our shows.

Buzz Slayers: What are you guys doing when you're NOT working on music?

Living the American Capitalist dream of barely scraping by so our corporate overlords can buy a third house in Aspen.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?

A lot of hardcore like Gel, Scowl and Zulu who I need to fucking see live.

Buzz Slayers: Are you all doing any live performances right now?

We play out about once a month in Denver and CO Springs.

Buzz Slayers: Did you record yourself or hit a big studio for this?

We record with Filipe Patino at Green Door Studios. He is a fantastic engineer and producer. Not only is he an awesome human, but he is also a tone junky like us.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

We have an EP coming out digitally in June and vinyl sometime in late summer. We are already working on writing the next one.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

Thanks for all the support and stay thirsty my friends.
