A new single release from Gemïny brings out a lush and cinematically undertones synth-pop soundscape that blends several genres together to create this huge feel, and all in all, it does deliver this slightly nostalgic but also fresh and current approach that feels absolutely excellent to listen to.
"Sun Set" has a particular way of growing in intensity the more you listen to it and as the track plays on you get engulfed by that soundscape and find yourself in a totally different place altogether which is a beautiful form of escapism if you ask me and something we've been missing in music for quite some time.
This has elements of R&B, synthwave, massive pop tones, and it's packed with soul which is something that gives this track depth and authenticity.
The energy in this song is perfectly dynamically balanced and you have that musical intensity that grows along with the vocal intensity simultaneously and this gives the song an alive and breathing kind of feel.
I absolutely love the graceful approach to this track and how it keeps things right where they need to be without ever going over the top but still giving off that impactful tonality that makes the song so addictive.
You can definitely tell that this track came from some place real which makes it all the more genuine and it's the type of track you can definitely see in a film or a TV show because it does have that vastness which makes it thrive even more along with that emotional platform that it was built from in the first place.
So, there's a lot of layers that could be peeled back with this track and it's absolutely packed with such a great array of instrumentation from guitar parts that add a little bit of funk element to it, vocals that come through smooth and silky bringing that Allure, and those synths and beats that give it that drive.
I love how the track is just slightly edgy but again, never really over the top. That balance between edginess and color is really in a pinpointed place to make this song work with a certain flow.
This track definitely feels like the kind of song that could have been the soundtrack to a certain chapter in your own life and I think that's part of what makes it slightly nostalgic for me along with those hints of vintage pop peeking through especially in the very beginning and end of the song.
Vocals are performed beautifully with passion, and he really shows the ability to belt out when he wants to but also keep things subtle when needed.
There's definitely a lot of attention to detail going on throughout this track and with all the intricacies, it never loses that heart that it was built from in the first place and that's probably the most important thing about it.
With such a wonderfully woven single, we wanted to have a sit-down with Gemïny to find out where this track actually came from and what is coming up next for the artist.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with "Sunset"! This track was colorful and full of soul in the vocal delivery! How did this release come about?
I really appreciate the kind words. Yeah, it was really just something I caught a vibe with and felt it needed to get it out. I had the beat sitting on my laptop for months. It was one of those songs I always loved sonically, and the melodies were there. But I didn’t have a narrative for it outside of the cliché, “I’m in love with a girl vibes.” So it sat in the vault for a while because I'm big on making sure every song I've released so far has had a part in an overarching story that constitutes the contents of this era in my life. They have all introduced everyone to who I am and how I got here (both sonically and canonically). But as that primary narrative began to reach the darker and heavier moments, I felt like it was the perfect time to throw out a song about a pretty girl and cleanse the pallet a little before returning to the regularly scheduled program. Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as an artist?
I feel like everyone dreams of growing up to be an athlete or a creative of some kind, but this has always been my dream. But I spent the last few years with someone dear to me who really pushed me to be better as a creative and when I lost them to unfortunate circumstances were the catalyst that pushed me over that edge to start releasing my music last year. Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?
To put it simply: life. My personal experiences and relationships with women and mental health inspire every message I put out. Buzz Slayers: This release has some great approaches to it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?
This is always a difficult question because I have so many across so many different genres and musical eras that it can get really hard to pinpoint exactly where I pulled all the ideas from. But for Sun Set, I would say the song melodies and delivery choices were highly influenced by Beyoncé, Usher, and PARTYNEXTDOOR Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?
Probably listening to music. But nah, while that plays in the background, outside of work, I'm usually at the gym, playing Apex, reading poetry, or just finding the most weather-appropriate way to relax. Whether that's at the pool, in the sauna, or washing my sins away with tequila at your local bar. Just depends on the day, I guess. Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?
I’ve definitely, unapologetically, been pushing the Tate McRae agenda for the last few months. But Ally Salort is a smaller artist who I’ve been bumping heavily lately. She’s got a song called Dreamliner that’s been on repeat. Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?
At the moment, I’m on a break from live performances. No crazy reasons I just try to stay away from pushing and marketing too hard during the holiday season we’ve all got enough getting shoved down our throats at the time so I’d rather be posting and pushing positivity and keeping the vibes up, rather than announcing my next show and asking for sales. But I’ll be back to it come late January/February
Buzz Slayers: Do you record these at a big studio, or do you have a home studio set-up?
No big studio. There are a few different locations I have when I’m looking for specific room noises or natural resonances. But for the most part, I’ll use the UofSC recording studio. Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?
The official EP, and its episodic version, “My Dark. Twisted Valentine” are still on the way. The next release of the EP will be coming in January. And hopefully, if everything works as intended the full EP will be coming Feb 14th. The last track of the commercial version is fighting me at every turn. But that’s the game plan, and I’m aiming to execute it.
