A fresh new single release from NAYAH just dropped and delivers with it not only a wonderful character that comes through with bits of honesty and tells the story about becoming an adult to an extent, but gives off this addictive and driving dance approach that makes you want to get off your butt and start moving.
"all my friends are growing up" as a very well produced track that has a little bit of that vast undertone but really keeps that driving point up front with a fresh and vivacious pop attitude and classic almost early 2000s dance pop approach aesthetically and throughout all of this you're picking up on some of her great vocal melodies and how she sings with some soul which I find refreshing because you get glimpses of R&B with those vocals.
Those hints of R&B work so well with the dance vibe and style of the track itself because it still has that vibrancy to it, and it's got a great sentiment.
It's all right there in the title, of course. It's all about becoming an adult. Growing up and having more responsibilities is something that happens gradually, but it feels like it comes on very suddenly.
One night you're out drinking with your friends, having a good time with only minor worries in the back of your mind, and the next day it changes.
All of a sudden, there's a lot to do and take care of. For a lot of people, they have others to take care of, and so those responsibilities are on their shoulders as well, and again, this feels very sudden for a lot of people.
I love that element of honesty in the song because that's what gives it so much character.
It comes through with a youthful drive, and it's very spirited, brilliant synths, perfect dance pop beat, lush and exciting vocals, in the whole thing has a massive groove, as good dance music should.
It's a song that balances that youthfulness with that adulthood. It crosses the line and does so in such a wonderfully addicting way, and I think that a lot of us can really understand where she's coming from with this track.
I find it really refreshing that she's able to take a sentiment that comes from reality like this and turn it into a track with so much brightness.
You can hear a slew of influences on the single, and a lot of them come with that robust pop overcoat that is super radio-friendly, but again, bring some color and layers to the table that make it more refreshing.
This was a single that absolutely showcased NAYAH's in-your-face approach while bringing together some almost vintage and classic elements into a new approach and giving it all her own spin while keeping that sentiment attached to the entire time.
As far as we know, this is one of the first singles that has been released as a taste of her upcoming debut album, which is set for this fall.
I certainly hope there's going to be more tracks like this one on the record and I'm sure there will be.
Her dance and pop-infused soundscape for this single alone is enough to make you dance your heart out, and I can't wait to hear more of this kind of stuff, along with new sides to her artistry with this record.
"all my friends are growing up" will keep me at bay for now.
Check this track out as it was just released today, and remember where you heard this first.
