A new single release from Amores Vigilantes delivers a thriving classic rock soundscape, complete with really vintage feeling tonality on the instrumentation giving it this total authentic aesthetic, and this is one of the most addicting aspects about it.
Not only does this track blend that vintage rock feel, but it brings it into an indie rock state of mind. You have these guitars that sound like they were recorded in the 70s, with riffs that flow and have this Soulful juice to them, meanwhile the vocals definitely portray a way more current style, and the combination of those two things is outstanding.
There's also a lot of piano flowing through this track, which is really the backbone of the song. I love this aspect too because the pianos aren't super prominent, but they're not buried either. They're very dynamically balanced and give the song this sort of electric energy that really feels exciting.
I think that's also a great combo, giving a classic melody but this layered flow creating more of a depth to everything, and then having the really colorful and bright, big and sort of driving classic rock backing.
"Male Like McQueen" is very melodically impressive, and a lot of it does indeed feel like something straight out of a 60s or '70s Rock album, which is really refreshing because you don't get that aesthetic often.
A lot of times bands are inspired by lots of classic rock, but they keep the soundscape fairly more current, clean, crisp, and very super-produced.
This is all fine and dandy, but a track like this one showcases a band that wants to deliver a more authentically vintage tone, so there was a lot of thought that went into the mix, the soundscape, the textures of their instruments, and everything else.
This was a bright single that felt very spirited. It came through very danceable. It had a great groove that made you want to dance to this song, and that sort of spirit and flavorful energy is completely infectious, right from the start.
The perfectly. Not really just sitting in the pocket, but giving an extra push, and I feel like a lot of the band pushed off of that as well.
There's an aspect about this song that feels almost like the whole thing was recorded live on the floor, and everyone involved just feeding off each other's energies the entire time.
Of course, I was there, so I'm not sure how exactly it was recorded, but listening to the song makes you want to be there in the moment.
I like a song that puts you in the moment, the way this one does.
The guitar work across this track is outstanding. There's so much going on in terms of some lead guitar work, great classic hooks, and this is something that I've missed in rock music for quite some time.
There are always good choruses and solid guitars, but I've missed guitar hooks. Also, free-flowing guitar solos that aren't just supposed to be a solo themselves, but are rather there to give certain chunks of the song a bit more flavor.
I dig that because a lot of classic rock used to do that. Bands would go off just for quick moments and time to add a little soul, and this song has tons of that.
This was definitely a feel-good kind of track, and a lot of it was quite addictive.
All of the aspects of this track sort of complement each other. Each instrument complements the next. They feed into each other, and it's a beautiful form of synergism that wraps itself around you; it keeps you right where it wants to.
This was like a sing-along, hands-in-the-air rock banger, and it just felt warm, in a sense.
The song had a lot of heart.
It also had heart lyrically. The lyrics are so youthful feeling. They come from such a young place and an almost carefree sort of sensibility.
This also helps add to that freeing energy and spirited approach musically as well.
This is definitely a song I'm not going to quickly forget, and as far as I can tell, this track will be part of an upcoming bigger release later this month.
I definitely can't wait for that one because I'm hoping that there's going to be more classic, sort of vintage-feeling rock music flowing throughout its veins
I certainly wouldn't mind more of this kind of stuff on a full album or an EP.
So, move the couch back in the living room, crack this single, and get ready to dance.
Remember where you heard it first.
