In the latest release from MOODi, we get a sense of the artist's eclectic and lush production and songwriting approach as the song comes through with elements of several electronic subgenres from synth-pop to jungle, breakbeat, electro-pop, and tons more just all rolled into one massive single that manages to keep its vast undertone so that everything feels spacious and massive.
"Open Skies" is a song that has an evolution of its own and sort of grows in intensity as it plays through which is something I love about it because it gives the whole track the feeling of being alive and breathing in a way.
Some of these notes are really deep-rooted and they serve as base tones that also feel like their synth pads, so you have a sort of edgy base texture that feeds into the track, and this is something that gives it a sort of cinematic feel and lets everything sort of surround you.
I definitely love the blending of electronic styles, color and edginess, character, and vastness. All of these things add these different attributes to the track so that it's very unique and it's hard to just put your finger on one genre but, I am someone who likes this fact.
This is kind of the future of music in a certain aspect. I know that seems like a strong statement but listen; this is a song that has a lot fewer walls built around it than you may be used to and that's something that gives the element of surprise which this song has plenty of.
As the song builds, it breathes and sways, it swells and becomes bigger so towards the middle of the track you're starting to get more of a jungle beat and that intensity is now risen but the vocals are still the smooth and ambient approach, and that combination is really what makes this kind of special.
It's in the progression and arrangement of this track. Some changes take place that you don't expect to happen. I find this completely refreshing.
This was more in-depth than I thought it was going to be and I really enjoyed that because this is a song that you can get engulfed in and when it's over you sort of have to snap yourself back into reality again because it's pulled you away from whatever you were doing.
It gives you a little bit of an escape musically and that is a gift. You get glitch and this wild electronica that all fit into the song in little chunks and different textures and notes.
This was so much fun, and I certainly do adore that nearly perfect blend of lush character and color, and that hard-hitting edginess that the beads and some of the synths provide.
That's another thing, the choice of synth tones and sounds was outstanding on this.
It helped take that old school and new school soundscapes and smash them together.
This was an awesome track and MOODi did an outstanding job creating something that stays floating around in your head for hours after it's ended.
Also, props to Theo Noble who was a big part of the track in terms of the vocals as far as I can tell, and that added an amazing layer to the song itself and gave it more of that personality.
This was killer and I suggest you listen to it with headphones on so you could fully soak in everything that's happening in this track.
There are lots of things that float around the song's ether that you want to catch with headphones on.
Remember where you heard it first.
