A Smooth new Single from Plaid Lion

ree

A single release from Plaid Lion delivers a very smooth but inviting tonality with a track that gives the sentiment of running away to someplace you've always wanted to go and just being carefree about it all.

This welcomes you to a place where you're sipping a cocktail somewhere on a beach or just escaping your everyday life, and that's what this is all about. The track beckons the sense of getting out or escaping. Calling in sick to the office and taking that vacation you've always wanted to take, even though you never thought you could.

"Follow Me" is the kind of track that stays with you for days after it's ended simply because the air of that feeling of getting out and being someplace else is always there. A lot of us think about that kind of thing all the time. What would it be like to just call into the office and escape for the next couple of days? To be free of everything and everyone except maybe that one person you wanted to go on vacation with.

I love this sentiment because it is indeed carefree. It gives you that spirited and freeing sensation when you listen to it. It's a song that gets you thinking. I'm a fan of any kind of music that lets you think or feel.

Musically, this is brilliantly done because it does carry with it that soft and subtle smoothness that blends contemporary with elements of jazz, and this four on the floor disco style beat, along with alluring vocals that are the focal point of everything.

The vocal approach is smooth and slightly sultry with that inviting sensation all over again as she says, 'Hey, follow me and just say goodbye to everything for now.'

The way that this is displayed locally matches up with the sentiment of the song perfectly. It is sort of carefree and gives you that smooth island breeze kind of undertone.

That beat is certainly driving, but it's not overpowering. It is very balanced, as everything on this track really is.

It's got gorgeous keys and what feels almost like strings that are held out throughout the background, building even more on that sense of disco.

After a bit, a male voice comes in and joins, and you have this great duet singing about getting out of there and going someplace together.

This closes the deal for me simply because everything comes full circle. Now they are together, and it's time to escape with one another.

The matching and mending of textures with each other creates a gorgeous atmosphere. This whole thing creates an aesthetic that sort of pulls you in and takes you away from whatever you're doing at the moment.

It actually helps you escape your reality for just a little bit.

I think that's part of its point.

The two of them do it together amazingly, and they both have the same kind of almost lounge style swagger that they create. Everything sounds even more robust when they're singing together, and the message behind the song is the strongest.

I definitely loved how this came together and how it all still kept to this silky soundscape. Almost as if you are already gone, on that vacation, on that beach, in that tiki bar, sipping cocktails.

Definitely breezy, definitely refreshing, and pushing a sentiment we can all relate to, this is a song that you should listen to with headphones on so you can really soak in all the elements that it gives off. Those keys and synths, the driving disco beat that feels amazing with the softness of those keys as well; it all comes together like puzzle pieces.

Listening to this with headphones and closing your eyes helps you capture the moment the song delivers even better.

Take a deep dive into this one, and maybe, just maybe, you'll end up taking that vacation.

Remember where you heard it first.
