A New Single Release from Star Prairie Project

A new single from the Star Prairie Project delivers a little bit of a new direction and brings this folk and Americana rock feel to the table while still incorporating a lot of classic rock influence, along with some amazing instrumentation like banjo that adds a little bit of that blues underbelly to the song.

"Poor Pitiful Me" is a song of self-loathing, to say the least. The lyrics are relatable to a lot of people at different parts in their lives and talk about all the things going wrong in life. Losing your job, waking up in pain, and everything else that goes along with the trials and tribulations of well, simply being alive, I suppose.

It's put in such a great perspective because it's from that personal place, and I love how it still has this sense of humor, which is displayed not only lyrically but also musically.

The bluesy and roots-folk style banjo element to the song, I feel, helps push a little bit of the humorous aspect of the self-loathing, and it really has a great way of delivering two different perspectives at once.

A lot of us go through different kinds of struggles and don't really know how to articulate all of that into words let alone words in music so when we hear a song like this it actually works wonders because it's so relatable, even if it's just one or two lines that you relate to.

There are thick laid organs in the track, bringing that classic rock approach as I mentioned earlier.

This also adds thickness to the song and builds its atmosphere well.

The vocals can be quite soulful and at times a little bit more subtle, but during choruses really belt out and hit notes perfectly with that impactful tone.

I love how the song is laced together with a slew of different influences under its belt, and it goes to show you that this project knows no bounds.

The track is, as far as we can tell, part of a new album set to release next month and features artists Rudiger and Ivy Marie.

Before the full album drops, there's another release set to go later this month, and I can't wait to hear this one because this track is, as I mentioned earlier, a bit of a new direction from what I've heard of the project so far.

We are not exactly strangers to the Star Prairie Project, and previous records displayed a bit more of a heavier rock sound, so hearing this track was warm and welcoming for me.

I love the approach and how genuine it all came through.

The track is riddled with personality and lush instrumentation that let it come through full-bodied and with a certain kind of spirit behind it, even though, again, it's a pretty self-loathing track all in all.

You can tell it was a lot of attention to detail when the song was put together, and again it encompasses a slight humorous undertone along with the doom and gloom of the premise.

I think nailing something like that's hard to do and it was completely perfect here.

This was a brilliant aesthetic, and the performance on the guitars, keys, banjo, and all vocals are incredible. The whole thing felt massive but still had that roots tonality to it that humanized it.

That's the thing; this is a very humanizing song. It's sort of vulnerable if you really think about it and well thought out in terms of lyrics and arrangement.

The full album will be called, Little Gems, and is the 8th album from Star Prairie Project.

You can tell by listening to this track that all those years of experience, songwriting, performing, and recording helped every aspect of this project become something that pushes the envelope enough to grab your attention.

Definitely check this out as soon as you can and keep a lookout for the next single really singing about a week.

Remember where you heard this first.
