A New Single from The Dreambots Has Arrived

A new single from The Dreambots delivers such a descriptive moment in time that, as the song unfolds,  lets you picture the moment in your head visually. It's going to be a little different for each listener. Still, in a way, it'll be the same for all because the lyrics are done with such great attention to detail but without losing the character or the meaning behind it which I think that's a big part of what you end up latching on to when you hear this song.

"Tightrope" comes through as a sort of bright pop-rock soundscape and the guitar work is outstanding with all kinds of great hooks musically which is something that I miss in a lot of different kinds of rock music to be honest.

We all love a good chorus and that's what sticks in our heads a lot of the time of course but in rock music, guitar hooks used to be this essential part of a single and I think a lot of bands have lost sight of that but these guys really brought it back with a perfect balance because everything about it has this natural and forward moving flow.

You get a mix of indie rock, hints of garage, classic rock influence, and again, this robust pop-rock fluency that lets the song come through with a bit of a bang but it still has the subtleties in its underbelly that let it feel smooth.

The energy across the board is outstanding as well because it's not over the top but it still feels almost like a live performance where the players involved are just feeding off of each other the entire time.

Between that element and the drumming, the song has a unique rhythm and time signature some of the time that indeed lend itself to an early 2000s or even late 90s indie rock approach.

There's something also breezy about the song that brings to mind surf rock songs and maybe that's an influence as well, especially on those guitars. Some lead sections are very cool and those guitar tones have a little bit more of a twang to them than the rest of the song it seems.

When you pay attention to this song lyrically, it is a very descriptive metaphor of sorts and it talks about the tightrope of being in a relationship, and the way that that's put out there is brilliant because the talk of losing your balance, closing your eyes, and how you deal with certain situations.

It's been a while since I've heard a song that describes this kind of emotional drive and inner thought in such a smart metaphor that you're able to pick up on very quickly.

I also really enjoy the fact that the music has this brightness to it but the lyrics have a little bit of darkness to it just because they're so honest.

It reminds me of bands like The Cure for example where the music could be super poppy and danceable but yet the lyrics were pretty depressed and sad

Now, this isn't a depressed or sad song, it's just truthful and I just enjoy how the music comes through with a pop-coated and memorable approach while lyrically the song speaks such, sort of, brutal truths and also does so in a metaphoric sense.

It's about tension.

All of this to me, is super cool because it's a bit refreshing. This combination of subgenres, styles, lyrical approaches, having a song that rocks in a certain way but is also completely honest and straightforward. It's all very rejuvenating in a strange sense.

I think part of it is because you can connect to the track a lot. A lot of the things that are being said make sense to those of us who have been in similar situations or almost any relationship for that matter.

This was a very impactful song that came through uniquely and showcased this band's ability to write a song that feels comfortable and familiar but is a bit outside the box.

Most certainly take a listen to this track as soon as you can because it will affect you in some way shape or form and it will get you thinking. I feel like we need more music that lets you feel and makes you think these days.

A great track from the Dreambots, dive into "Tightrope".
