A Massive New Release from Nokturna

ree

A thrashing new release from Nokturna wastes very little time getting right in your face with fierce riffs, vast undertones, and an aggressive attitude that blends speed, thrash, and melodic metal but also beckons classic hardcore as well.

All of this is portrayed with a massive sonic drive coming from those guitars, along with pounding drums that don't let up for an instant.

The track is absolutely blistering and features a lot of great guitar work, including tons of pitch harmonics that add this cool tonality and texture to the song along the way. A lot of the riffs throughout this track are very inventive in that manner.

Because of those harmonics, a lot of the time, you get glimpses of old-school approaches in the songwriting and approach. I dig this a lot because I grew up listening to plenty of underground metal, speed metal, and new metal, along with loads of hardcore out on the East Coast.

This definitely gives me little bouts of nostalgia because of how they put it all together and how they bring those influences to the table at different parts of the song.

The tone of the guitars is essential here. They give the guitars this overdrive that is just fiery and brutal, but this also helps push the song forward in that classic hardcore and metal style.

The truck is called "Deadwater", and some of those cool guitar tones and riffs are introduced right at the beginning of the song, bringing this melodic attribute before the song explodes into a complete face-melter.

The drummer is unreal. You can hear elements of punk rock in the track too but that comes with the territory of certain kinds of speed and thrash metal along with hardcore as well.

The drummer is not just in the pocket. He brings a certain liveliness to the track and pushes it forward in a way that feels like the rest of the band is pushing off of.

The vocals are also quite brutal. You have different tones and styles of grueling, almost blackened metal style vocal approaches, but again, bringing classic hardcore into the mix in this sense also.

This band definitely brings a slew of influences together for this one single, and that showcases a band that has a real love for the genres that they grew up with.

The bass guitar tone is deepening but still has a little bit of a rattle to it, and that's also quite punk rock if you ask me, and the whole thing hits like a sucker punch to the gut.

One of the things that pulled me into this a lot, aside from that great intro, is the fact that the energy level of this song is intense, to say the very least.

A lot about this track feels like it was recorded live on the floor, and everyone involved was just feeding off each other's energies the entire time.

I wasn't there, so I'm not sure how it was actually done, but when you listen to this track, you immediately want to see them live.

This is because they capture that aesthetic and energy so well on record that you automatically sense that the band would be completely invasive in a live performance setting. This is exactly what I would expect from a band like this if I were to go see them at a show.

You don't always get that kind of energy on a recording so for them to pull that off with such an electric and ecstatic feel is pretty great.

You have different time signatures going from full to half-time throughout the track, giving the song A heavy-handed and mosh pit-worthy sound, along with some awesome lead guitar work that just destroys.

I certainly enjoyed this simply because I feel like in a lot of metal these days, the lead guitar stuff seems to be gone more and more. I don't like that whatsoever, so hearing this banger of a release come out with lead guitars that crush was really refreshing.

Not much was held back here, and you can tell this is a band with a real love for their craft. When I say that, I don't just mean playing their instruments or performing vocals; I mean writing songs together that just come out with a massive and blistering soundscape that you can't turn away from.

This gave me a very satisfying experience. The track boasts every single thing that you could possibly ask for from a really good thrash metal and hardcore track that brings to mind classic approaches, but gives it a refreshing and super high-energy aesthetic and feel.

Guitar players are going to absolutely love this, but people who just love metal will too.

The track just dropped today, so definitely jump in and check this out now.

Do not be afraid to turn it up because that's how it was meant to be heard.

Don't forget where you heard this first.
