A Massive and Theatrical Metal single from Sliding Doors

A new single release from Sliding Doors delivers a righteous metal approach that comes through with a heavily theatrical undertone, vast approaches in soundscape, and incredible guitar work, all rolled into one track that feels as vibrant as it does edgy.

"Whisper" starts with a driving riff and classic metal approach with some amazing arpeggiated and augmented chords that the drums accompany by delivering some intricate performances, which right off the bat, lets the song feel sort of intelligent and precise.

Vocals come belting in soon after, and the high-pitched melodic tone of the vocalist meshes and mends with the music damn near perfectly, adding a different sort of texture and layer to the song so that it's got depth and power.

So, right from the very start of the song, you get this anthemic metal feel and aesthetic that is close-fisted and impactful.

I love the progressive rock elements that happen throughout the track. This is what makes the song have a certain kind of elegance to it. Yes, it's metal, it's heavy, it's melodic and driving, but it also has a brilliant sort of gracefulness to its approach in terms of the guitar work and the drumming that really lets this have a particular kind of flow to it.

The drummer is an absolute animal. I feel like he's got such brilliantly intricate technique and approach to what he's doing, but it all has that natural flow to it at the same time. Not only that, but it feels like the energy being delivered is what adds the massive liveliness to the track, and a lot of the rest of the band sort of pushes off of that.

All the performances throughout this track are killer. The bass guitar does some amazing walks, the tone of that bass guitar is also incredible, and it not only adds a low end and a rumble, but also different melodies that are underlying those guitars.

The band is super tight and gives you this vivacious atmosphere.

The vocalist is so good. She's got such a beautiful tone and comes up with these haunting melodies, which work amazingly with the song itself and the hints of dark overtone that are presented.

As I was hoping, this track also gave an amazing guitar solo that fed into the aesthetic of the track, but also gave a melodic approach, along with some technical ability. The solo had passion behind it. It works so well with the air of the song, and it was in the spot in the song.

This was a blistering metal banger, but it had so much going on that there was a lot to chew on.

Again, that rhythm guitar was totally driving, giving trudging palm mutes and pushing along with an addictive rhythm, but the whole song breaks into these other directions and Progressive attributes often, so you get a lot to soak in.

Upon listening to this track, I took a bit of a deep dive into their Spotify catalog and came across an EP released last year called In The Darkness, which was also outstanding. There are a lot of songs that showcase some different sides to the band's songwriting approach and influences.

Again, this new single is a little bit more theatrical than the previous EP. I feel like they've grown and sort of evolved a little bit since then, and you can hear that in a lot of the guitar work and songwriting.

If you dig this track, you will certainly like a lot of songs off that EP as well, so I suggest you go check that out.

"Whisper" is a song you either listen to at a loud volume or with headphones on. Either way, you need to be able to soak in all the layers of textures that are going on throughout the song and follow along in the actual storyline, which can get very detailed lyrically, but there's a lot of melody to soak in as well.

This was a killer track, and I suggest you go check this out right now.

Remember where you heard it first.
