A Heavy New Single from Kickstand Jenny

ree

A new single release from Kickstand Jenny recently dropped, and this is a total alternative rock banger, complete with heavy-handed riffs and a major sonic drive that pushes the envelope to go right along with anthemic and powerful vocals and a sentiment that I think pretty much all of us can relate to.

The single is called "LIAR!!", and it's all caps because it's angry.

This is a track that is based around that person that we all knew or know that spews lies and covers them up as best they can.

It's a sentiment we can all connect with because we've all known those people. They just keep coming back with more lies.

I can personally relate to this in a heavy way because I myself have known those people, and sometimes it's not the fact that they're lying,  but what they're learning about.

If you are at the other end of that rope and that person is lying about you, then you get angry. It gets very aggravating having someone else spouting lies about you and keep going with it.

You start to wonder why on earth a person would just keep doing that, or what would make them be this way.

Those kinds of tensions and intensities are completely captured on this track during those huge choruses.

The verses delve deeper into the details and can be very descriptive, letting loads of that inner thought come out and letting the emotion sort of take over.

I feel like the singer does an outstanding job of really pushing that emotional backbone and just letting it all rip.

Of course, the song itself follows suit with that heavy-handed riff, slamming drums, and this energy that just feels electric.

One of the things I really enjoyed about this track is that it lends a hand to some of the classic late '90s and early 2000s heavy rock songs that you'd hear on the radio. It's giving you a little bit of grunge, plenty of alternative rock, hints of metal, and thinking just outside the box enough to stand out.

Another thing that is probably one of my favorite aspects of the entire track is the fact that there's a great guitar solo in there.

So, let me dig a little deeper into this. When it comes to heavy music, they're used to always having some guitar solo action. At some point, for some reason, this faded out. I'm not exactly sure why or when, but I've always hated it.

I've always felt that heavy rock music like this should have some kind of lead guitar solo in there to serve as a bridge or a climactic point that's not a chorus.

I love that this band brings that back so elegantly and with such a great arrangement. It's all done exactly right, in my opinion.

The guitar solo ends, and it jumps back into that massive chorus with some extra hardcore-style vocals faded way into the background, adding a bit more aggression and intensity to it all.

As I said before, it's this brilliant energy that lets this song be captured this well. The whole aesthetic of the song is to be pissed off at the liar. And because everyone in the band has that energy level at such a high point, it comes through exactly the way it was meant to.

Super memorable riffs, vocals that belt out during those choruses and stay a little bit calmer but still a bit pissed off during the verses, and a band that loves letting loose with a destructive heavy rock soundscape.

This is one of those songs that you hear and immediately want to go see them perform it live.

You just know it's going to come out with even bigger energy somehow.

Still, they capture the right aesthetic energy on the record so well that it puts you in that moment, makes you think of that person, and you can feel your blood start to boil.

For me, this is a track that speaks volumes for the band, who's already known for some great releases, simply because this is a track that is built without any walls around it. It just comes straight at you whether you like it or not.

This is the kind of thing we need and have you rock music.

Letting that raw emotion and energy take over and doing it with some style.

Why you listen to this banger of a single, check out our interview with the band below so you can really find out exactly what the track is about and what's coming up for the band.

Listen to this loud because that's what it was meant for. Remember where you heard it first.

Buzz Slayers: Let's talk about "LIAR!!"! This is a massive, high energy track that had such memorable riffs!  Where did this track come from?

LIAR!! came from a very real place. Everyone’s dealt with people who pretend to be something they’re not — someone who smiles to your face but stabs you in the back. We wanted to capture that frustration and energy in a raw, unapologetic way. It’s a punch to the gut both lyrically and musically. I was pretty mad at this friend when I wrote it, and you can feel the emotion in the song.

Buzz Slayers: I'm hearing a few different approaches to this record! Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

We have always been influenced by the classic giants like Van Halen and Aerosmith, but we also love some of the modern rock giants like Shinedown, so this is a blend of classic and modern. This song is definitely us — big guitars, soaring vocals, and anthemic energy — but it also pushes us further into edgier territory. We’ve always blended classic rock influences with modern production, and LIAR!! feels like the perfect bridge between where we came from and where we’re headed.

Buzz Slayers: Did you record this at a home setup, or at a big studio?

We were blessed to have worked with a talented team in Nashville, Tennessee. We met up with Grady Saxman at Saxman studios, after just recording with Jelly Roll. This guy does a lot of country, but really knows his stuff. From production, the song went to Anvil Mixing Studios, where Jonathan Roach put the modern rock edge to it. These guys are a solid work horse and a team we are proud to work with.

Buzz Slayers: Do you guys write songs together, or are there a few main songwriters that bring ideas back to the rest?

Preston Morelock (Guitarist) does most of the writing in the band, but there are some songs he has written with other members in the past, and there are some songs yet to be released that were written with Scott Foster Harris (Vocalist). The goal is to release the best music possible, so if someone brings a banger to the table, it will get recorded!

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as a band?

Preston was putting together a few demo songs for publishing deals, and while putting some songs together, he met up with former LA Guns vocalist, Scott Foster Harris. While he had multiple singers on the demos, Preston was persuaded by producer/friend Chas Sandford to see if Scott would sing them all. Scott was just above the rest as far as talent, so we went for it. Scott took a listen to the songs and decided to join the team. As this thing grew, we knew we had something special, so we decided to just make a new album as Kickstand Jenny. Since then, we ended up with a record deal with Spectra Music Group and have released multiple songs. Our YouTube has skyrocketed to more than 500,000 followers in a couple years, and things just keep growing.

Buzz Slayers: Are you performing live right now?

We played 52 shows last year, and decided to concentrate on writing and releasing new music for now. We are still playing shows every now and then as they manifest, but nothing major.  We are hoping to be able to hit the road soon.

Buzz Slayers: Now that this is out, what's next for you as a band?

We have some really cool songs ready to be released! We are so excited about these new tracks and cannot wait to share them. The goal is to release about a dozen songs over the next two years. Next, we are working on two more concept albums that will blow your mind.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?

Right now it's mainly the new songs I've been writing. I like to listen to the demos over and over again, to get a feel for the songs and to see if I need to add anything.

Buzz Slayers: What would you tell people they can expect on this release?

I can say that we are a diverse band that plays multiple genres of music... But, expect the new stuff to be a little harder than the past. We've stepped on the gas with this hard rock approach.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to express to fans of the music?

Keep following, keep sharing, keep streaming.. Things are about to get wild!
