The latest single release from Ricky Neal Jr delivers a disco-pop soiree that blends elements of dance, electronic, pop, and more, all rolled into one track that comes with such a groove that you automatically want to get up and start dancing to it.
"Supavona" is a track that tells a story and gives a lot of personality. This single is packed to the brim with character, and part of that is because of the vocal delivery itself.
The lyrics pull you right in from the start. It's pretty relatable to a lot of us, but it's the way that he freezes his words and lyrics that reach out and grab you.
The words bounce between the beats, creating this seamless flow while still delivering a little bit of swagger or attitude, if you will.
Again, it is character-driven and that is one of the biggest attributes you end up getting attached to right from the start.
This is a party single, filled with psychedelic synths, classic grooves, a driving beat, and a chorus that's colorful but still boasts a little hint of edginess in its underbelly.
It's completely addictive, and that course doesn't need to stick in your head for hours or even days after the song is over. The only way to satiate that is to go and listen to the track again.
One of the things I love about this track is the sheer vastness in its undertone. There are tons of great synth pads and keys that are used to create a depth, and that depth is a little spacious and a little ambient, but still somehow adds to the color and the almost tripped-out vibe of the track itself.
It's been quite some time since I've heard a song that comes with its own atmosphere the way that this one does, and this is a single that feels so radio-friendly.
It's able to combine a slew of influences bringing some classic vibes into a new playing field and giving them a refresher.
Ricky isn't reinventing the wheel with this one but he's giving his own spin to something that feels a little familiar and makes us want to get out of our seats and shake our butts.
It's dance pop at its best, and that disco vibe is super strong and heavy-handed here. This all makes you want to dance even more, of course.
But all in all, again, it's the personality that you get throughout this track that sort of glues you to it.
The song isn't afraid to be experimental and beckons a soul-pop in its undertone as well. It feels cinematic in a strange sense while combining that smooth and drifting tonality with the drive of the beat and the color of the vocals.
The entire thing is completely vivacious and brings out a brilliant aesthetic that becomes super infectious super quickly.
Some of these synths are drenched in reverb effect, and this also adds to that cinematic backbone I mentioned earlier, while vocals feel more upfront but can be super lush at times too.
The production of this track is absolutely killer. It makes me think of a little bit of Euro synth-pop in a sense, and I love how those little elements come into play, especially towards the end of the track, where everything is climactic at its final chorus.
It's got a bit of an explosive approach, and you can feel the soul in those vocals.
You can hear that he's having an absolute blast throughout the recording of this track, and it really puts you in the moment.
The overall energy of the song is so exciting and electric that it makes you want to go see him perform it live right in your face.
I dare you to listen to this track and try not to dance. It just won't happen. The groove is too heavy. The soul is too thick.
If you're driving in a car, you'll be shaking your butt in your seat. If you're at home, move the couch back and just get ready to dance around the living room.
This was a bright and charismatic pop banger that took such great notes from amazing influences and created that atmosphere that feels like it's all its own
Ricky was able to capture lightning in a bottle with this song, and it's a track that feels good to listen to.
As a matter of fact, I suggest listening to this track first thing in the morning because it's just going to set your tone for the entire day. Guaranteed.
Check this one out as soon as you can, either pop on headphones or turn it up because this one's going to get in your bones, and it's quite a fun experience.
A Perfect Blend of old and new school approaches brought to life by an artist who comes through with a robust delivery, dive into "Supanova" as soon as you can and remember where you heard it first.
