A Country Crossover from Matters

Writer: BuzzSlayersBuzzSlayers

A new release from Matters blends hip-hop and country seamlessly with a unique approach, plenty of swagger, and hooks that you end up hanging on to.

"Country Song" is certainly a clever track as it does take those hip-hop and rapping elements and brings them into a melodic chorus and hook with a heavy-handed hip hop beat, acoustic guitars, and some of that southern soul that you would expect.

What's impressive about this is the idea behind it. The whole concept of this is taking on a different approach to what a country song can be.

Bending genres is not an easy thing, but I think this is part of what the future of music is all about.

Matters seems to have pinpointed the idea of taking two genres that are so completely different from each other and creating one track that combines the two of them. It takes a lot of attention to detail to write a song like this, but it worked perfectly.

The crazy thing about it is that it's got a lot to say as well. If you listen to the lyrics, he goes into a lot of detail and can be pretty descriptive, but it's that hook that grabs you.

The performance has a subtlety to it. It's sort of calm and almost peaceful in a strange way, but it still has that edginess in its underbelly.

There's still that swagger that sits on top of everything, and it's such a unique and addictive approach that the soundscape kind of engulfs you in a way.

The lyrical phrasing on this is brilliant because it fits into those beats and somehow flows with the guitar tones as well.

One of the other things that impresses me about this track is its energy. Like I said before, it's got a swagger, and it's calm in a way. It's not over the top or crazy, but as the song goes on, their elements intensify.

The lyrics can get more intense at times, and there are additional guitars that come in that have little more edges to them as well.

I love a song like this because it grows. It starts in one place and grows to another place and then exhales back down to where it started again.

Just having the idea to create a track like this is something that plenty think about, but being able to execute it in a way that lets your presence shine as an artist is difficult.

Matters has managed to pull this off without a hitch and with charm to boot.

It's got a great chorus, and the premise of the song is about how he may not be country, but this is his country song. It may not be the kind of country you are used to, but this is his version.

It's saying a lot, and it's very expressive in that sense.

Genres don't have to be what we make them. Matters proves this by creating a song with fewer boundaries than you may be used to.

This is something to look up to for anyone who's trying to put music out there and break barriers.

You have to take risks to break those kinds of barriers down, and Matters took that risk. It certainly worked out because it took a lot of time, it would seem, to make sure that the lyrics were right. The lyrics and the vibe have to fit the aesthetic of the song, and he really paid attention to what the end product would feel like.

The track also comes with a company music video that also shows you some of his swagger and presence as an artist, and I would suggest listening to this track by watching that video the first time around.

It's all really fun and has a lot of character to it. This is a song that actually shows plenty of personality if you pay attention.

Check this track out as soon as you can, and remember where you heard it first.
