A Classic Single from Dual Analog

A new single release from Dual Analog delivers a classic alternative and indie soundscape that brings to mind artists and bands from the mid to late 80s and early 90s with classic synth and key tones along with bountiful vocals.

"Kontrol" starts with a synth hook that feels colorful and is totally memorable but, this also opens up into a vaster and more expansive soundscape with synth pads that bring a lushness to the track's approach and tonality.

One of the things I love about this track is how it brings together so many layers of textures that build throughout the song. It doesn't start right away with a slew of synths and keys. The sounds and tones, textures, and layers slowly build up more and more, growing the song's vivacious and sort of cinematic feel.

There's something about this track that feels incredibly nostalgic and that's exactly what they're going for. They're hitting this wonderful aesthetic that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside because I grew up listening to tons of this kind of stuff.

The beauty of this track is that the aesthetic that it's going for is completely nailed. It feels exactly like a song I grew up listening to on the radio.

This is a song that demonstrates exactly how you can take influences from different times and genres and bring them together to create something that feels authentic, and familiar, but refreshing at the same time.

The energy of this track is a huge aspect of why it works so well. The vocals are massive. They're big. They come bellowing in and are performed at the top of his lungs which adds to the drive of the song as a whole.

You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this song, but it never loses the personality or character it begins with in the first place. This might be the most important aspect of it all.

This song is like a love letter to the bands that influenced them.

You can tell this is coming from people who have an absolute love for their craft and when I say that I don't just be playing keys, guitars, or singing, I mean writing songs together. Creating something that makes people feel something.

This is purely a passion project and their love for the genre makes that perfectly clear.

Now, some people would just call this pop but really, it's alternative pop only it's a classic form of it.

Alternative pop has changed of course as all genres slightly do over the years, but this is almost like a reincarnation of that original version of alternative indie pop music and the innovation of it is something that makes me happy because if this kind of music is going to make a comeback, then I wanted to be done right.

To save this track was done right is a complete understatement.

This was an outstanding track and not only did they hit the right tones with the synths, pads, bass, and even the beat, but the vocals as well.

The vocal performance with a track like this can make or break it. A lot of people might say that works for all kinds of tracks which of course it does but, when it comes to this style, aesthetic, and genre, it's imperative that the vocals represent the music properly.

The thing about music like this is that it does have some emotional backbone to it. Think about bands like Tears for Fears for example.

These guys make me think of bands like that through and through. This was a song that gives you persona both musically and vocally.

There is some great guitar work across this track including an excellent hook towards the second-half end of the track that provides a bridge that works amazingly because the way the vocal tones mix with those guitar tones is outstanding.

It's also a song that builds as I mentioned earlier. I love how it builds up to that bridge and then back into the final chorus. It offers such a classic arrangement to go with the classic tones.

Like I said, this was very well thought out and it's got heart. Those are the elements that really shine through. It's the heart, character, and aesthetic that make this work so well.

This is also a song that has a brilliant mix. The mix of a track is not something I always talk about but when it comes to music like this, the mix is so incredibly important.

The way the guitar hook comes in at that bridge and how those guitars are doubled up but not overpowering is perfection. When the vocals come in right over the end of the guitar line, everything just falls together like puzzle pieces. It's got a natural and forward-moving flow to it that only works because the mix was so well done.

I'm not sure if the group themselves mixed this song or if they got it mixed somewhere else but either way, whoever did it knew their mission well.

All in all, this was beyond impressive and for a band that is going for such a unique aesthetic and songwriting style, it was done pretty flawlessly to be honest.

I've already listened to this song over six times and I'm still not bored.

If you're someone who grew up listening to classic alternative and indie pop, then this is 100% for you.

Dual Analog delivers.

Take a listen to this right now and remember where you heard about this first.
