A new single released by Bobby Ray delivers a classic country and rock tonality with that southern kissed undertone and honesty that gives the song a genuine character and a relatability that we can't deny.
"It's Always Something" has a way of blending together a vintage but also refreshing country feel and it's the song's straightforward lyrics that give it that personality because he just lays it out and because he does it that way, you understand it and, in a way, it's almost like talking to a friend.
The song talks about swinging for the fences and striking out again which is obviously a metaphor for the simple ways that life gets in your way and that's what makes this such a wholesome sort of song.
It's not sugar-coated, it's not fake, it's authentic and that's something that connects with whoever's listening to it no matter what genre they're really into.
Having said that, the music aspect of this track is amazing, and the guitar work is outstanding with these almost classic rock influences coming through.
There are some amazing guitar hooks and harmonies along with this classic drive that it has and it's Bobby Ray's energy that has a way of grabbing you.
The whole thing feels like you're watching a live performance in a strange way, and everyone involved is feeding off of each other's energies the whole time which gives this drive to the song that helps it push the envelope and hit the aesthetic exactly the way it was meant to.
You can hear these different influences coming in and out of the song from classic country singers to classic rock bangers all just getting rolled up into one song and along with that you have vocals that are performed with a perfect balance so that they're not too over the top but they give just the right energy for the song to help it have that perfectly forward moving flow.
I love these aspects of the song and how Bobby Ray's able to take this sort of struggle and put it into a song that feels good to listen to.
That combination in itself is fun because again, you get the character behind the song and you relate to it automatically, so there's that connection but it also has a massive catchiness to it so, you do get the best of a few different worlds with this one.
Upon listening to this single I took a bit of a deep dive into Bobby Ray's back catalog on Spotify and I'm glad that I did because I found a slew of absolutely amazing releases including an album from 2021.
I think this is going to be an artist to keep an eye on and after hearing this track and listening to some of his previous releases I'm definitely going to be paying a lot more attention from here on out.
This is for real country rock fans and more because he does bring those other influences to the table quite often in his music, and this is one artist that I found very infectious and when that happens it's fun to go back to the beginning and listen to their evolution as an artist because you can hear that in the music.
So, take a deep dive into this track and Bobby Ray's other releases on Spotify at least because it's more than worth your time.
Each of these releases, especially the albums, has more than a handful of singles that you might end up adding to your playlists and listening to over and over.
But don't just take my word for it, have a listen for yourself and remember where you heard it first.
