A new single release from Jennifer Alvarado brings out a brutally honest approach as she wears her heart on her sleeves and talks about an experience that she had that a lot of us can actually relate to and does so with a passionate performance and a powerful delivery by all parts.
"Colorado" is a song about a broken heart, but it comes from someplace so real and authentic that you can feel it in your bones.
There's something about this song that lets you actually picture visuals in your head as it plays through which is absolutely astounding and while that happens it's almost like you're playing a music video for the track in your head.
I think it has a lot to do with her descriptive lyrics and how she really lets that emotional drive push the song to where it needs to be and just lets go.
This was very impactful for me and probably for a lot of other people who have experienced similar situations of heartbreak.
I feel like this was probably cathartic for her to release because this is how Jennifer knows to let things off her chest. She does it through her songs and that's what makes them so addictive and so powerful at times.
The thing about the track is that you feel for the artist and what she's singing about but because of its relatability you also feel like if you're in that situation you're not alone and that has some weight to it.
This is beautifully done with graceful performances and that energy is really perfectly balanced throughout the song so that it's never too over the top but just where it needs to be to push the envelope.
I love listening to music that makes you feel something and causes memories of your own to pop into your head at random and this track did exactly that which was incredibly refreshing.
This track definitely serves as a chapter in the artist's life and can be the soundtrack to a chapter and many of our lives which makes the song so beautiful.
I think it takes a lot to release a song like this or even write a song like this.
You have to sort of dig deep and the thing about most of us is that we don't know how to articulate it right so when we hear a song like this it feels like it was made just for us.
This is something that has been missing in songs for some time no matter what the genre, so it was wonderful to hear it now.
Jennifer Alvarado is the type of artist that doesn't hold anything back when she makes her music, and she puts things out with fewer boundaries than her predecessors but combines those attributes with powerful songwriting that feels warm and familiar.
Upon listening to the single I definitely took a little bit of a deep dive into her back catalog on Spotify and when I did, I found a ton of releases dating back to 2014.
But it was really 2020 when she opened up and started pushing herself as an artist and releasing a lot more.
A lot of her releases speak volumes for her as a songwriter and as an artist and have different ways of showing her presence which is excellent.
If you like this track, which I'm sure you will, then I would suggest going back and listening to some of her other releases because it's definitely not a waste of your time.
