FALS is the stage moniker of Eric Fallander, former music journalist who pivoted to songwriting during the pandemic. What came out was 12 poignant stories about love and loss on European highways and memory lanes, on pills and booze and good times – "I’ll Rhyme For You" is a collection of compellingly short postcards from a relationship gone down the drain, and was followed up in 2025 with his sophomore effort CHROMATIC SCALES & CATCHY HOOKS. Produced by Paris-based collector of sounds, Michael Wookey, this nine-track record finds humor, heartbreak, and tenderness in both the trivial and the cosmic and plays with scale in every sense: moving between domestic irritants and mythic archetypes, between cheeky wordplay and philosophical lament. Wookey’s production stitches guitars, keys, samples and found sounds into arrangements that feel handmade yet cinematic – and full of catchy hooks. 2026 will see his third album "Six-strings, Eighty-eights and Heartbreak", from which the first single The Hardwood Life is currently streaming on all platforms.
