A new single release from Steve Andrews delivers quite an important message that a lot of us can relate to, especially with what's going on in the world today and it's done with such a unique approach that blends this sort of rap element into a vast and electronic soundscape that incorporates all kinds of great synth work and beats.
"Mother Nature Rap" has a unique sonic presence that gives off a slight haunt but that's done on purpose because of the message of the song talking about how we as people tear down nature to build and capitalize which is completely true and a lot of people stand on Steve's side on the topic which is quite a hot button these days but I think it's always been.
One of the things I love about this track is how straightforward it is lyrically, and it's right in your face with everything he's feeling, and you can tell this is coming from an emotional drive but it's also completely understandable because he's correct and we all know it.
This track musically has such an outstanding blend of genres because it has such an open sound that feels very big and wide and it's done with that electronic backbone and sort of heavy-handed beat that hits pretty hard and this all comes along with vocals that sit atop everything perfectly so it's very dynamically balanced and you can hear every single word he's saying so that the point gets across.
Now the cool thing is you can hear some guitars in the mix there but there are also layers of sense that mend and melt into each other creating the sort of atmosphere that you fall right into and this tells me that Steve's happy place or zone if you will, is when he's recording his stuff with no walls around him.
It's like he's free to speak his mind in these moments and that's what true art is really about.
The thing about this track is that it has a strange way of sticking with you for hours or even days after the song has ended which is quite a unique thing if you ask me because the only way to really see that is to listen to it again and I really adore that.
Upon listening to this track I had to go listen to some of his previous releases and I'm certainly glad that I did because he's been dropping music since 2019 on Spotify but it's likely he's been doing it for a lot longer than that to be honest.
Show a little bit of a different side to how he approaches writing songs and it all comes down to how he's feeling in the moment.
Whatever he's feeling in the moment of creating the song or whatever causes the inspiration for the song is what ends up coming to fruition so he releases music with fewer boundaries than the norm which I think is really important these days.
I think this song speaks volumes for Steve as an artist because he has such a vast and eclectic approach to songwriting and this showcases exactly what I'm talking about.
I would strongly suggest checking this track out when you can and after that, definitely take a deep dive into his back catalog of releases because you certainly won't be disappointed there either.
Remember where you heard it first.
