Sound Birds

The Sound Birds is a dynamic songwriting duo formed by James Devine and Nick Fasano. Their musical journey began in 2004 when they first joined forces as high school students in West Nyack, NY, under the name Calibur. A decade later, James continued his musical exploration in San Francisco, where he often performed live and ultimately formed the band McHugh and Devine, releasing the studio album Emerald Hills. Meanwhile, Nick collaborated in a new writing duo in Boston called Abigail Williams Story. Despite their separate paths, James and Nick maintained their connection, regularly penning songs and collaborating both in person and from a distance. After years of writing countless songs, they decided to reunite as The Sound Birds, aiming to breathe new life into their extensive catalog with fresh production techniques, while also embarking on exciting new projects. The name “Sound Birds” and their label, Two Birds Records, pay homage to the lyric, “and on the way down, I saw two birds, fortified by their sound,” from their inaugural song, “Two Birds.” It perfectly encapsulates their partnership, as each member contributes their own unique but confident sound to their joint efforts. James, the lead singer and guitarist, brings a blues/pop rhythm, favoring bright major key choruses and catchy hooks. In contrast, Nick, on keys and piano, infuses the music with intricate melodies and song structures characterized by a minor tonality. Together, they create a harmonious blend that showcases their individual strengths while ultimately culminating in a unified sound. The Sound Birds main goal these days is to showcase their catalog for sync or licensing opportunities to other active recording artists.
