An Interview With A.D.A.M. Music Project

A new single release from A.D.A.M. Music Project hits a blisteringly edgy but powerfully anthemic can melodic alternative rock soundscape that boasts heavy-handed choruses and an energy that you absolutely cannot look away from.

"Conqueror" hits the ground running with Incredible guitar tones and refs that get your blood pumping along with such a massive amount of character brought to the table that every element of the band together is what ends up driving the song itself.

You get all the sweet spots from really good hard and heavy alternative rock with some metal elements in there too of course but it's got such great Melodies and such great hooks that you end up getting caught up in the song pretty quickly.

Now, here's the kicker; the full name of this track is technically "Conqueror (the other song about Bowser)".

Yes, you read that absolutely right. This track is about Bowser from the Super Mario Bros series and film.

Of course, we all fell in love with the Jack Black single that was in the film itself, but these guys pull together such a different view of Bowser's side of things and it's way more aggressive but also extremely fun.

It's incredible to hear a track that's got such a great Sheen and polish on it made for this subject because you just didn't really expect it.

This track is 100% radio worthy and the band has such great technique and tightness that the song is very quickly infectious even before you know what it's about.

On top of that, these guys are insane musicians from the drumming to the vocals to the bass and that guitar work was just ridiculous.

In case you're wondering, yes there is a killer solo in it that just thrashes in the most colorful and fun way humanly possible which actually goes along with the aesthetic of the song so well it's crazy.

The track also comes along with a music video so you can watch the guys destroy in a live setting and in doing so you get a real feel for the energy and the presence that this band carries with them.

Also, you have flashes of Bowser in the background which is half the point of course.

My point, however, is that these guys did this for fun and amusement and it's absolutely incredible.

This is one supercharged heavy banger and it's something that you definitely have to hear for yourself which is best done by watching the music video.

With such a massive single release, we had to sit down with A.D.A.M. Music Project to find out more about how this got inspired and what might be coming up next for the band.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with "The Conqueror" This single has an anthemic alt-rock feel with an edgy tone and is a song based on Bowser!! How did this track come about?

Well, when we started the project almost exactly a year ago we decided that all of our songs were going to be about video game characters. The first 3 releases up until “The Conqueror” were about my favorite video game Apex Legends. The full LP Apex Risen has 20 songs dedicated to it and came out in May 2023. When we shifted gears, we felt it was important to add video game characters from all generations and all types of video games. Bowser was a natural for us to write about because he’s so badass and the song sounded huge just like he appears in the games! Plus he’s the King Of The Koopas!!

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as a band?

For years, I’ve been involved in promoting other people’s music, and really wanted to do a hard rock project of my own. I didn’t have any big message to put out but I knew that I wanted the band to be hard rock and not afraid to write and produce tracks that sound current, or from the 2000s or even the 80s and 90s. I just knew it had to be rock and it had to be about video game characters because I love video games! It’s been amazing because the first 21 songs we released so far feature over 25 different artist contributors of all generations, walks of life, and cultures. The youngest is 19 and the oldest is 52. This project is a blast and has a wide range of variety in styles featuring 8 different lead vocalists and several different lead guitarists. It truly is the Ultimate Fan Project! We are having so much fun!

Buzz Slayers: This single has some great heavy styles on it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

We pull from all sources like Falling In Reverse, AC/DC, Metallica, King’s X, Shinedown, Royal Blood, Motley Crue, Def Leppard – I mean it’s literally all over the rock map. I recently wrote a song for next spring’s release and shared it with my brother Neil from the band Dirt Poor Robins. He said, “Adam, that sounded like Rage Against The Machine had a baby with Helmet!!” Lol

Buzz Slayers: What are you all doing when you're NOT working on music?

You guessed it, playing video games!!

Buzz Slayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?

Our music listening is all over the map. Current Rock, Classic Rock, Obscure Rock, Indie Rock, Metal, Funk, Jazz – I mean literally everything. We love music in all its forms.

Buzz Slayers: Are you all doing any live performances right now?

Our first show is scheduled for December 1st in Oklahoma City with Aranda for their 15th anniversary party. I’ve got a feeling there will be many more live performances coming after that one.

Buzz Slayers: Did you record this yourselves or hit a big studio for this?

We used two primary studios for the recording of The Conqueror. My own in Orlando and VEUX Studios in Oklahoma City.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future? Anything coming up?

“The Conqueror” is the first release off our next full-length LP titled “Smash It Up!” coming out later this year. It will feature 12 songs, one about Bowser, Yoshi, a duet between Mr. and Mrs. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Kratos of God of War, a track called “Burn It Down” about Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, and so much more.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

Thank you so much for listening and helping us get the work out! Keep on Rocking and Gaming! Let’s Go!!!
